Maybe one day? - Spencer Reid x Reader

Chapter 9.

"Reid!" Rossi shouts over while waking up Spencer who had fallen asleep on the jet while on the way to Las Vegas.

"Sorry I was dreaming." He mutters while rubbing his eyes and fixing his hair. He looks disheveled and slightly confused. You look over with concern.

"You okay?" You ask him softly, his eyes meet yours and he nods at you.

"Yeah I was dreaming about a little kid that had been kidnapped, he'd been sexually abused and I had found him." His voice is wistful and his eyes look sad.

"You know Reid, simple dream analysis says if there's a baby in a dream then that baby is you." Morgan says while raising his eyebrow at him.

"I don't believe in dream analysis." He mutters wile pushing his hair behind his ear. "Why aren't we reviewing the case files?" He asks with a frown.

"Because someone fell asleep on the jet?" Emily states while laughing. You chuckle with her and grab a file.

"Okay so Ethan Hayes, 5 was abducted two weeks ago. His body was found one week later in the dessert." JJ starts to speak. 

"No sexual assault and he was clothed in new clothes, nail clipped and hair done." Hotch says while reading the case file.

"Now a Michael Bridges has been abducted just yesterday while he had set off to meet a friend at their house down the road." JJ carries on saying while addressing you all.

"Are we sure these cases are even connected?" Spencer questions.

"The unsub has contacted each of the families, taunting them." JJ mutters.

"So we have an unsub with remorse, taunts the family and then kills them?" You state while looking through the files. Seeing the faces of the kids made your heart hurt.

"And 6 days to find him. Seeing as we're landing soon let's head there ASAP guys okay?" Hotch exclaims while closing the file.

You all touch down in Las Vegas in quite a hurry, there's been one child already murdered and you knew it was a race against time before the same happened again.

Hotch and JJ head to the house of Michael Bridges to get a head start on speaking to the parents and also looking into any clues around the house and area. 

You, Reid and Morgan head to the mortuary to speak to the coroner but also find out what you can from the body of the previous victim.

"There's no bruising around his neck or face. I'm guessing he used a pillow." He says while you all glove up to examine the body.

"He would have been weak, he must have been starved but there was no actual evidence of him being starved. No IV marks to suggest intravenous nutrition at all." You and Morgan share a look while he explains.

"Thank you, we'll look into it further." Morgan says while removing his gloves and leaving the room. You and Spencer follow after him and walk out of the building. 

"I don't know about you but I feel like this case is going to wreck us slightly." You mutter while walking in line with Spencer.

"How do you mean?" Spencer asks.

"Child cases always sting don't they." You shake your head slightly. You all head back to meet up with the others. Hotch and JJ have decided to open up the funeral to the public to allow the unsub to head there to see their work while Prentiss and Rossi are leading the theory that the unsub is grooming the child for their own funeral. The thought makes you want to cry.

As you walk into the house you see Hotch, JJ with the parents while the mother is speaking to the unsub on the phone, the conversation from her side sounds strained and the unsub hangs up.
