A t h e n a
I wake up in a room that isn't mine, in a bed that certainly isn't mine. My brows pull together at the Iv connected to my arm, I sit up, ignoring the pain that erupts in my body as I rub my eyes. The room is white, black furniture and everything is precise, no strewn laundry, no messes of any kind, it's almost perfect.
I watch as the door opens and a guy walks in, the brother. He opens a drawer and searches for something. I bite my lip, debating whether I should say something or stay quiet. I defy the universe as I pipe up and ask, "Where am I?"
He abruptly turns around and a scowl taunts his lips, he raises a finger and points up and down my body. "What the hell happened to you?" I open my mouth but no noise comes out. Instead, I shake my head and offer a small smile.
"I'm Athena," I say quietly. He only scoffs and throws the shirt he came for over his shoulder as he storms out. I let my hand drop as I rake it through my hair. I try to get up but that results in me wincing as I hold my ribs.
The door opens again, Ace walks in. His black t-shirt gives me a full view of the tattoos that cover his arms, he furrows his brows as he sees me, he leans against the bedpost. "You're awake," he points out. I nod. He must see the confusion on my face because he says, "This is my room."
"Well, would you look at that," I give a soft laugh. "I'm in your bed and I don't even know your favorite color."
He almost slips up and attempts at smiling but he bites his lower lip to stop it. I tilt my head and bring my body up as I bring my knees to my chest. I sigh and rest my head on my knees and at once, everything hits me like a sandstorm, my own dad did that, this to me. I feel a tear oncoming and I hastily wipe it away.
"I saw that," he mutters. I look up and narrow my eyes.
"Saw what? My pretty face?" I laugh softly.
"No, your tears." He deadpans, I haven't known him that long but it's obvious he doesn't like to beat around the bush. No sugarcoating, he seems like the honest type of person, and I like that.
"What tears?" I question, I freeze as he bends down, his hand coming as his thumb grazes my cheek.
"These tears," he shows me the obvious tear on his thumb. I wipe at my eyes with the end of my shirt. "What happened?"
I laugh softly again. "I told you, crazy party, broke the bed, all that good stuff."
"You didn't break shit," he scowls. "Stop saying that."
"Why?" I raise an eyebrow. "You wish you were Chad?" I can't stop the words before they tumble out. I slack open my jaw a bit and feel my cheeks burning. He crosses his arms, scoffs, and looks up.
"You blurt things a lot." He states, ignoring my last statement.
"I have a lot to say," I lick my lips, pull the covers off my body, and run a hand through my hair again. "What happened?"
"You don't remember?" He sits on the corner of the bed, I shake my head. "I found you like this, you told me you had a party, some guy named Charles and you broke apart your fucking bedroom, and then you passed out on me." He runs a hand down his face.
"First, his name is Chad," I say. "And second- I passed out?"
"I don't care what his name is," his lip turns up in a displeased way. "And yeah, you did."
"Was it a graceful fall?"
"No, you face-planted into the ground," he crosses his arms and scoffs lightly, I cover my mouth with my hand and laugh quietly. "Super graceful," he adds.
