"Athena, Athena, Athena, Athena, A-"

"Eve!" I laugh and shake my head. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing," she shrugs and takes the seat beside me. "I just missed you."

"Miss Sage-" I knock on the door, and when I get no response, I grasp the handle and push it open. I feel my heart stop when I see Vinnie writing something on paper, he shoots up and locks eyes with me. I freeze completely. He folds the paper up, throws the pen back, and walks towards me.

I flinch, gripping the door frame but instead of hitting me, he shoves the paper into my chest and gives me a long stare before walking off. I furrow my brows and let out a breath when he's finally gone. I look down at the envelope, Miss Sage, is written in sloppy lettering.

"Baby, you alright?" Miss Sage peeks her head in, I nod and give her the letter with a shaky hand. She looks down at it and back at me. "What's this?"

"I-I don't know," I say. She shuts the door behind us and ushers me to sit down. I do and cross my legs out of apprehension. She sits down at her office chair and peels it open, reads it, and when she's finished, her brows push together. "What is it?" I ask quietly.

"He- quit?" She says, confusion seeping into her voice. A wash of relief passes over my body as my muscles untense. "This is so weird, why would he do that?"

I give her a shrug. She sighs, rubs her temple before tilting her head at me. "You okay, honey?"

I fake another smile. "I'm okay."

She clasps her hand together, smiles, and says, "I think it's about time we discussed your raise to the junior manager."

My eyes widen, happiness encases my heart as I smile wide, and this time, it isn't fake. She goes on for a bit about the raise and I walk out of the diner with a big stupid smile on my face. Eve sees me and she raises an eyebrow.

"Why do you look like you're about to rain havoc on us?" She raises an eyebrow. I throw an arm around her shoulder and grin.

"Eve Sinclair, we're on the road to success," I walk out to the front of the diner and ignore people's stares at us. "You and I," I point between us, "we're gonna wreak havoc for sure."

"I- Athena did you- are you on something?"

"Eve, I'm on life," I laugh and let go of her. "Just kidding, we're not gonna wreak havoc on anything."

She pouts and hits my shoulder lightly. "Loser."

I narrow my eyes at her and she only laughs.

I'm cleaning out the counter when someone clears their throat. I turn and see Ace standing behind the counter. I drop the cups and walk over.

"Excuse me?" He asks, "I'm looking for a girl-" He looks around. "I don't know if you've seen her- she's tall, brown hair, sort of cut in a bob?"

I look down at myself, back up at him and furrow my brows. "I-'' I rake a hand through my hair and make sure it's still white. "What's her name?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.

"Her name's Rebekka," he says. I laugh and shake my head with a smile before my eyes find his.

"I actually saw her in the back," I pointed behind me and his brows knit together. "Yeah, I actually saw her go in with some blond boy, I think his name was Chaden, Charles, something like that."
