"Good morning, mom" I greeted her, in a husky voice, as I entered the kitchen

"Morning, sweetie" she replied

"You slept very early yesterday. How was your sleep?" she asked

I grumbled some incoherent words under my breathe. She chuckled

I sat down as she placed a plate of toast, bacon, and eggs in front of me, along with a glass of homemade smoothie

I smiled at the sight

"You really are the best, mom" I complimented her, as I always did every morning. I subconsciously made it a routine to say something to compliment her every morning

"I smell bacon!" my dad said excitedly as he descended the stairs

"Because that's what I cooked?" my mom asked in a dud tone

"Yippy" my dad said, ignoring her statement

She shook her head

"Sometimes, I do wonder how in the world you are the mayor" she said

And like my dad, he stuck out him tongue towards her, making me shake my head too

I love my dad, and although it may not make sense to say this, I'm very proud of him. Unlike how other mayors may behave, he's so different. He doesn't always expect him family to be perfect. He doesn't make his position to come between him and his family. Even though he's a mayor, one can see the love shinning between him and my mom, and I'm always grateful for that. People might believe it's just for show, I also would think so, if I wasn't a part of him family

As for his children, he's an amazing child. He's funny. He's nice. He's everything position. He doesn't hit us. He's that kind of dad that can play in the mud with his kids but is always respected by them. I don't understand why some parents think that they must have an iron hand for them to be respected by their kids. My dad is a prove that the opinion is false.

He's a peacemaker. When he heard about Shannon slapping me, he laughed. Apparently, like every other person, he had hoped and waited for someone to stand up to me and Shannon did more than that, his words. And if I'm being honest, my dad is part of the reason I didn't do anything to her. I've always wanted to be like my dad. When I was small, I used to call him my hero and even if I don't say that anymore, that's a child word, he's still the person I look up to

"Hey, hey"

I was brought back from musing by my annoying sister snapping my fingers in front of my face and her annoying voice

"What?" I asked her

"How was it?"

"How was what?" I asked her, my eyebrows arched in confusion

"The planet you just visited. How was it? Which planet was it? Mercury? Venus? Mars? Jupi...?"

I shoved a whole half slice of toast into her mouth then dropped the fork down, no way I was putting it back into my mouth. I got up to get extra toasts and a new fork. I sat down back, pleasantly ignoring the glares from my sister

"Thanks for the food, mom. I'm done"

"Oh, okay. So, you are going back to your room now, right?"

"Actually, I'm just going to go to school now" I stated

"Now?" she asked, glancing at the wall clock, confused

"Mm" I said going to the living room to get my backpack

"But this is not the usually time you go to school. I'm sure nobody would even be at school at this time"

"I know, mom. I just feel like it today"
