The party was awoken by a guard telling them that they had a visitor at the gate.

Prince Shinybottom had come to visit them, and was very disappointed. He listened to their

side of events, advised that High Duchess Frostleaf was calling for their execution, and

promised to speak to Finnigan about retrieving Rinir’s notes from Skullthorn Manor. Jose

dropped into a depressive state, began to have a crisis of faith, and attempted to starve himself.

He gave his breakfast to the thugs, who thanked him mockingly for it.

After breakfast, Tara was advised that a visitor had asked to see her at the front gate. When

she arrived, the visitor was darkly cloaked and sniggered at her, asking if she was enjoying

her new accommodations. When she replied in the negative, he laughed again. “Well, don’t

worry,” he sneered, “you won’t have to live with them long. The Brotherhood of Rogues always

finishes what they start.” The visitor then lowered his hood, allowing her to see that he was

the same scarred elf that had killed poor Rinir. He then made some more offensively familiar

remarks and vanished again. Shaken by her encounter with the killer, Tara walked over to her

new friend, Chunk, who expressed concern for her. She told Chunk of her encounter with the

scarred murderer, and that he had mentioned the Brotherhood of Rogues, at which he seemed

very interested, and called the elves, Tyriel and Uriel, over. Tara repeated the information to the

elves who looked very thoughtful, and thanked her for letting them know. The elves talked for a

time and summoned her back over.

The two elves then confided in her that they were members of the Brotherhood, and that this

scarred man was not a member. In fact, the Brotherhood has recently become aware that there

is a group operating in Leafytown that is actively opposing them. In fact, the six of them were

currently imprisoned for murder, which is not part of the Brotherhood’s purview. They admitted

that they had each performed many acts that would justify imprisonment, but none of them are

murderers. The description that Tara provided was the first solid information they had gotten

about who might be involved.

As a result, Tyriel and Uriel extended an offer of peace to the party, provided that hostilities

cease. Also, they stated that they would contact their allies outside of the gaol to have them

investigate this scarred stranger. At lunch, when Jose tried to continue giving up his food, Tyriel

explained that there was no need to do so. When Jose insisted, the criminal explained that

their two groups were allied now, and that, as an ally, Jose needed to keep his strength up.

Additionally, he advised the cleric that if he did not eat, Tyriel would have Runk and Crunk hold

him down so they could forcefeed him.
