It was beautiful. An empire crumbled tonight. After disabling the computer systems it was easy to make our way to the targeted destination. The biggest surprise to me was how long it took anyone to realize the computers were down. Even though it was night, somebody somewhere should have been able to notice. It was easy to steal into the weapons room, after being directed by Genesis, and take everything I needed. I only needed three things the first being a set of guns designed by The Company that make ammo obsolete using electric currents in the air to create blasts. Then a handgun for when I make it to Chiefs office.

We entered the wing where the higher ups offices were. That's when we ran into trouble. Blaring alarms went off all around us. Above the noise I screamed to Genesis, " What's going on?!" His voice entered my mind. "It appears our attacking the computer network hasn't gone unnoticed." Guards appear from out of nowhere. To anyone else it would seem quite hopeless. Guards flanked us from the front, the back, and both sides. But we weren't a pair of amateurs. Before those in front of us could even process what was happening Genesis was butchering their minds leaving a pile of still twitching carcasses left for us to clamber over. As we ran down the hall I fired incessantly each shot hitting its mark fatally.
As the alarms blared and the guards appeared endlessly my heart beat rapidly. It was nearly impossible to keep focus but eventually I was able to find what we were looking for. The Chiefs office. We entered without hesitation slamming and locking the doors behind us. Inside was a different world entirely. Complete silence surrounded us. I glanced at Genesis with look that meant enter with caution and he nodded at me. It was time to end this. It was time for revenge. It was time for me to destroy The Company.
The office was huge, proof of Chief's lavish tastes. Thick carpet silenced our steps and bookshelves lined the walls leading to the, no doubt, expensive desk at the end of the room. That's where Chief was sitting. He said nothing until we were in front of the desk.
"Have a seat." He said as he motioned to the chairs in front of them. I sat on the desk. I was not above petty defiance because honestly it really didn't matter. I was about to kill him. He made no outward show of being annoyed albeit a nostril flare, almost indiscernible. But I noticed and my confidence boosted.
"You're very collected for someone who is about to have a bullet in them." I said and took the real gun and pressed it against his temple.
He paused then responded with,"I respect you Anya. I do. But why? I have to know, why protect a monster? Why protect something that's only going to destroy you? That DID destroy your husband? This thing is a monster. He's not worth fighting for." His island accent was smooth and left the ruse that he was calm still intact.
I cracked the handgun across his face.
"Don't. Don't you DARE criticize him. He's a monster? Who told me to create him? Who paid money so that he could be alive. Oh no. He's not a monster. He's just as human as you and me. He's just as flawed. If we and his abilities, we WOULD use them. He acts human an now he looks human. And now, like a human he's going to take what he desires most. Revenge." I was breathing heavily by the time I finished speaking. Anger coursed through me, intoxicating me, making me high. Then Chief started laughing. "Looks human? You're crazy! He could never look like us. Never." He laughed louder and louder and louder. That's when I shot him in the shoulder. He howled in pain and backpedaled falling out of his chair. I stood up and started to walk around the expansive desk.
"Anya! Watch out!" Genesis yelled. Too late though.
The shot that Chief fired from his own gun ripped through my chest. My vision blurred as pain blinded my sights and my mind. I dropped to the floor unable to do anything but try to breathe as the I watched the blood pool in front of me.
Genesis roared and I watched Chiefs eyes fill with horror. His nose started bleeding and he was stiff as a board just sitting there on his knees, unable to break Genesis' gaze. Genesis walked over to him.
"I'm not going to kill you. I'm going to replay your worst nightmares, your darkest fantasies, your most ghastly memories. Over and over again. Until you may as very well be dead because you'll be the shell of the man you used to be. And when you think it's coming to a close, when your ink there can't be anymore, I'll give you a look inside my head," he tapped his temple pointedly," a million memories from hundreds of others. Hours upon hours of anguish. It. Will. Never. End." his deep voice was both scary and beautiful. Chief fell to the floor and Genesis turned to approach me. I stared unable to move unable to speak as Chief ever so slowly grabbed his gun, pressed it to his forehead, and pulled the trigger. "NO!" Genesis and I both screamed and tears fell from my face because I knew, even with his death, Chief had won. The Company was gone. But Chief had still won. Genesis pulled me up to his chest and I cried against him for what seemed like days. He picked me up and carried me. "We need to find a way to remove this bullet." He said. He carried me through the many halls of the building that were littered with bodies. Bodies that weren't there when we started the attack but lay there with glassy unseeing eyes now. "I didn't mean to do this. I just... When he shot you... It was like my powers lost control. I felt them blast out of me before I could stop it." His gaze was dark and we entered my room. He laid me on the bed and told me he was going to find the medical supplies he needed. I've been writing since he left.
The Company is finished. Of that I am proud. We were able to take down the wannabe Gods of this world. But Chief escaped my revenge. Knowing that weakens me. I don't know how I've been able to write this long, or even live this long... I've lost so much blood. I feel so tired. I don't want to let go but I can't help it. I think I'm falling asleep. I think
I think
I just want the world
I just want the world to know my story
