It's the middle of the day at school. Kara and Lena are sitting together. Kinda bored because they have two hours of homeroom. Lena already helped Kara some time with her science. So now Kara is studying but Lena is bored. She didn't bring her book so that's a fail.
Lena does some tapping on the table but does not find anything to entertain herself with.
Suddenly the speakers of the school start to ring. *dum dum dum* everyone in the homeroom gets silent.
'Can Kara Danvers make her way to the principal's office please? Repeat: Can Kara Danvers make her way to the principal's office, please?
Kara looks at her exchange friend with a surprised look on her face. 'I swear, I didn't throw an airplane in an eye again.'
Lena laughs. 'Would be weird if you did. Don't worry. You'll be okay.'
'Are you coming with me or...?'
'No, I'm gonna get some fresh air. You have fun.' Lena says while laughing.
Kara rolls her eyes with a sarcastic look on her face. 'Gee, thanks. Just make sure to meet me in an hour at classroom 109 we're having the Irish lesson together.'
'Yeah, I will.' Lena says as both of the girls smile and break apart.
Kara walks towards the office of miss Madge. All the students in Wellom high school know that you are only called through the speakers when you have done something pretty bad. On the way over to the office, Kara is thinking to herself what it might be.
When she arrives she sees a sign on the door with: 'Wait here.' So Kara sits down in one of the chairs.
Lena is in the meantime taking a walk. She loves nature so she was planning to go to the forest. She is used to the beautiful green landscapes in Ireland. In Westmond everything is different. There are just lots of trees. And you have to easily climb 1 hill every few minutes in Westmond. Ireland is just mostly flat.
When Lena is on her way to the forest she sees the village center with all the stores. She really has to discuss with Kara if they buy Christmas presents for each other. Buying it will be a challenge for Lena because she had only bought a Christmas present twice. Those presents were for Sam anyway so she knew exactly what to get.
Lena walks past the stores as she sees all the shiny and colorful Christmas objects. She stops when she sees an advent calendar. It's a calendar with different kinds of chocolate on the inside. The picture on the front is from Santa Claus and his elves.
In Ireland Lena always has an advent calendar. Most of the time also filled with chocolate or different flavors of tea. But her luggage was already at its maximum capacity and she couldn't fit to take the calendar anymore.
Lena walks into the store and greets the old lady behind the counter. Lena walks over and looks at the advent calendar. There's not only one calendar but there are several.
Lena chooses the one with the elves at Christmas dinner. This is because the elves are really cute and there is a lot of food in the picture. Kara will like that anyway.
Lena pays for the calendar. The old lady asks if Lena wants it wrapped. She says yes. That's why the old lady wraps the present in a beautiful Christmas paper with a red bow wrapped around it.
'Here it is dear. Merry Christmas.' The old lady says while handing Lena the present in a plastic bag. 'Thank you very much.' Lena says as she walks outside of the store.
Lena looks at her watch and sees it's time to go back to school already. She's pretty excited Kara gets to be in an Irish lesson because she would really like to hear Kara talk a bit Irish. Her last exchange buddy really failed Irish.
Kara is still waiting in front of the principals' office. It has been quite some time now.
The door opens with a creak and miss Madge is standing in the doorway. 'Come in please, Kara.'
Kara sits down in the slightly uncomfortable chair she was in last time while getting punished. 'Sorry to keep you waiting.' Miss madge started. 'It's been a mess around my office all day. Anyway, I want to ask how it's going?'
'Well uhh... it's going okay.' Kara mumbles.
'You're having Lex Luthor over, right?'
'No, Lena Luthor. The information got messed up. She's okay.' Kara says.
'Well, you are not very enthusiastic Kara. I don't really know you like this.' Miss madge frowns.
'It just has been a hard time. Lena is not very open and I'm not that good at letting people in and helping people to open. We didn't match in the beginning but it's going better and better.' Kara says.
'Okay, then this was it. I just wanted to check in how you're doing.'
Kara frowns. 'Oh really? Good! For a second I thought I was in even more trouble.' she laughs.
Kara says her goodbyes to miss Madge as she hears the school bell ring. She quickly makes her way over to the other side of the school for the Irish lesson. When she arrives Lena is already sitting at the desk.
'Hey, you're still alive.' Lena smiles.
Kara sighs. 'Yes I am, it wasn't that hard actually. She just wanted to check in how it was going with taking in you as an exchange student.'
'That's great. An bhfuil tú réidh le roinnt Gaeilge a fhoghlaim anois?' Lena grins.
Kara looks at Lena with a confused look on her face. 'No, I don't want any veggies.' Both girls burst out in laughter. It's such a Kara thing to say.
The Irish lesson went really well. Kara got quite some Irish words learned. Well, she tried at least. Lena admired Kara for trying. Maybe Kara isn't so bad after all.
When the two get home Kara sits down on her bed. Kara has been making Lena all day what's in the bag she was carrying. Lena didn't spill anything.
'Well, now I really want to know what's in this.' Kara says as she points to the bag.
'You can now. This is for you.' Lena says as she hands Kara the bag.
'You bought something for me? That's really not necessary. I don't have anything for you.' Kara rambles.
'Just open it. You're doing enough for me.' Lena says as Kara starts unwrapping the present.
'This is so cool! What is it?'
Lena laughs at Kara's reaction. 'You're silly. This is an advent calendar. You open one window every day to countdown for Christmas. I always have one every year, so I thought this year this is one for you.'
'Thank you!!! And does this mean I can open the first eight windows already because it's December eight?'
Lena nods. 'Yes, it does.'
'Okay, Let's share!' Kara says as she gets the first eight chocolates out. And gives four to Lena.
'One more thing, can I give you a hug?' Kara asks.
'Just be careful.' Lena says as she is leaning in.
