'Al?' Kara asks.

'What?' Her sister snaps.

'Can I lend your bike for today? This way Lena and I can go to school together without having to ride that stinky bus.'

'Sure. One note. Don't use the brakes too hard when going off a hill. Otherwise, you'll crash or 

'Heard it Lena?' Kara asks. 

Lena looks up from her book and nods while sipping her all-black coffee. 

Minutes later Lena and Kara grab their bags for school. They do not have a very long day so that's good. 

Kara helps Lena adjust her backpack for the ride to school on the bike. Kara adjusts her own like she used to do for school. 

Both girls step on the bike and ride to school. 'How do you go to school in Dublin?' Kara asks. 

'Most times I walk. If the weather sucks, I'll take the bus.' 

'How long is the walk?' 

'45 minutes but I like the exercise. It's the only exercise I do.' Lena says. 

'Respect. I don't have the patience to walk. Have you ever rode a bike by the way?'

'I have when I was young. But I'm not used to anymore.' 

'Well, get ready for the most fun part.' Kara says while pointing to a hill.

Both girls climb the hill while breaking a sweat. In the meantime, a bus is passing them and classmates are waving at the two girls. Lena doesn't know but Sam is also on the bus and sees Lena climbing the hill with sweat on her forehead. 

When they reach the top Kara winks at Lena. 'let's go!' The girls roll with full speed off the hill. They even catch up with the slow bus halfway. 

Kara is laughing at Lena's screaming and laughing when going off the hill. When they finally go slowly at the flat way again Lena and Kara look at each other. Lena is still laughing. But Kara is just admiring Lena for a second. Then her eyes go back to the road. 

The last part of the road is driven in silence by the girls. Kara is just being one with her thoughts and Lena is mentally recovering from riding down the hill very fast. 

They arrive at school and make their way to the bike rack. Lena is done fast with locking her bike. Kara is still struggling with her rusty lock. When she is done they both walk into school. 

Lena gets an elbow push from someone. When she turns she sees Sam. 

'Check your texts.' She says and ends with a wink. 

Lena looks questioning at Sam as she disappears in the crowd of other students. She looks to Kara at her right. Kara didn't notice Sam being there. 

They walk to the table with Kara's friends. Kara sits down and chats with Winn and Nia. Lena sits in the corner and obviously is checking her texts. 

Sam: I saw you
Sam: from the bus.
Sam: you like her
Sam: have you kissed her yet?
Lena: Sammmmm
Lena: How did you come up with this? 
Sam: your looks when racing off the hill
Sam: Also, I've never seen you break a sweat. Like ever.
Sam: have you?
Lena: don't be ridiculous
Sam: So you're telling me you don't like her 

Lena looks at Kara having fun with her friends. She takes a minute to think. Does she like Kara? She looks at her phone again.

Sam: RESPOND 
Sam: DON'T CHICKEN OUT LUTHOR 
Lena: be patient
Lena: yeah, maybe I like her a bit
Sam: shut up. you like her a lot. 
Lena: okay, I do 
Sam: Make some work of it. Get your girl!

Lena smiles at her phone. She locks her phone and joins the conversation with Kara, Winn, and Nia. 

The school day flies by and soon enough the free time starts. 

'What are we gonna do?' Lena asks. 

'Maybe we can go shopping for Christmas. Only we can't go together in the same stores.' Kara says. 

'Yes, that will be fun! I know exactly what I'm gonna get.' Lena smirks. 

Kara sighs. 'I don't. But Christmas eve is in like a week so I need to buy something.' 

The girls head to the village and separate from each other considering they can't let each other see what they will buy. 

Lena goes into the first store. It's a clothing store. Considering she knows exactly what to get she starts looking for it. She needs a black sweater for Alex and white converse for Kara. 

Lena goes into another store and buys a necklace for Eliza. She doesn't know Kara's family very well but she knows Eliza wears jewelry and Alex wears a lot of (if not only) black clothes. 

But she does know exactly what to get Kara. She is going to get her converse sneakers. Those are Kara's favorites. And Lena is going to paint on it. That's why she also buys a big set of textile paint. 

Kara on the other hand is strolling through the shops while she has no idea of what to buy (or make) she drew Eliza, her adoptive mother. But she doesn't really know what to make her. 

She does know what to buy for Lena. Kara is buying a set of cute bookmarks considering Lena is always using old pieces of paper and receipts as her bookmarks. And of course, she is going to buy some books with it. 

For Alex, Kara is buying a new phone case because Alex's is nearly breaking.

In one of the next stored Kara finds those sciency test tubes. She instantly buys them and knows what to make of them. 

After an afternoon of shopping Lena and Kara smirk when they see each other again with bags full of stuff. They ride their bike back to the house. It's pretty hard with all the stuff they bought. For now, Lena is a little less scared of the hill. Tat's a good thing.  

When they get home Kara takes Lena's jacket again. Lena quickly goes up to hide the presents. Kara is following a few minutes later. 

'Hey, the question!' Kara marks when dropping the booklet on her bed. 

Lena sits down on the blonde's bed and waits for Kara to present the question. 

Kara scrapes her throat. 'Question: What are your five favorite words at the moment?'

Lena frowns her head. 'Okay, weird question. I'll just go with my words that first come to mind: imperfect, make-believer, perfectionist, juice and poppy.' 

'Yeah, mine are pizza, potstickers, fries, pasta, and pancakes.' Kara says. 

Lena laughs. 'Why doesn't this surprise me?'

'Because you know and like me!' Kara says. 

Lena nods. 'And because I love you.' she whispers so quietly no one can hear.
