Riley POV:
I was so excited to go to the one and only Hogwarts. I just got transferred and I am in my fourth year. I have never been, but at least I hope I will get to make friends. I was homeschooled and now I am a bit shy, but everyone who knows me knows how friendly I can be.
As I get ready to walk up to the train at platform 9 and 3/4, I see someone with blonde hair and striking gray eyes. But I keep walking knowing that those are the Malfoy's. I may be a pureblood but they are different and quite scary.
I walk slowly into the train and down the aisles to find an open seat, preferably alone, just until I meet people. But the only one that is mostly open has three people, one I recognize as Harry Potter. I try to walk away but someone talks to me.
"Aren't you Riley Lovegood? I thought you have been homeschooled" A boy with red hair says to me.
A blush slowly runs to my face from being recognized. As I look at the floor becoming embarrassed. But before I can respond the girl sitting next to him hits him. I gasp looking with wide eyes.
"Ron! Don't be rude, she's nervous to have switched schools!" Hermione yells.
Once they notice I was looking at then they gasped and looked surprised. My eyes meet Harry's and he blushes just a bit while smiling. Then he looks down.
"Oh, boys! You're supposed to introduce yourself when you meet a pretty girl. I wonder if you'll run when she starts talking" Hermione rolled her eyes.
I giggle at her comment and they both look at their laps. I like her already. After this, they introduced themselves.
"Would you mind if I sat here with you, there doesn't seem to be any more room on the train?" I ask softly, "but I understand if you don't want me to, I don't want to intrude".
"Of course you can!" Ron and Harry said at the same time.
"What they mean is they would love if you sat with us. I know I would love another girl in our group" Hermione says with a smile.
I sit across from them and smile down at my lap. I have already made friends. I heard Harry and Ron bickering about something, or more precisely someone, quietly. I didn't mind though the talking made me feel right at home because there was always noise in my house. At least no ones getting hit this time. Not badly. Maybe it's bad that this makes me feel more comfortable, but its the only thing I know. At least something is familiar.
The bickering goes on for a little longer but then stops and we all sit in comfortable silence. Until Hermione asks me a question.
"So Riley, what made you come to Hogwarts and what house do you think you'll be in?" Hermione asks quietly.
"W-well I'm not sure. My parents were both homeschooled. And I came to Hogwarts because my home wanted to send me" I answer trying to add a smile. Not telling the real reason about how my da was getting so bad that my mom felt it was best to send me away.
Thankfully my answer checked out because we went back to silence but this time there was a little tension in the air.
"Do you think he's just as bad as last year, what do you think he will say about her. What if he even tries to take her from us? He might even come into our cart" Ron whispered so quietly I almost didn't hear it. I don't think I was supposed to so I pretend to read my book, curious about who they were talking about.
"Oh be quiet, lets just hope he doesn't disturb her into running back home" Harry replies.
"It's going to be fine, she's too nice to join him. It seems impossible for her to be a Slytherin" Hermione comments.
Just then the blonde-haired boy walks in with two others right behind him. He's the one I saw on the track! He seems too intimidating, and with my fear already acting up I cower down hoping he doesn't notice me. Thankfully he doesn't see me and just talks to my new friends.
"Well well well, back again I see Potter," the boy says with distaste.
"What do you want Malfoy? You shouldn't even be in this cart you must have come to pick a fight" Hermione replies.
"No one asked you mudblood! You don't even belong here" Malfoy spat. I watched curiously seeing what would happen next. One of his followers notices me and tries to get Malfoys attention as I cower away trying to become one with my seat.
"Stop Crabb" as he brushes him off.
I sign silently, glad he didn't notice me, Hermione glances at me and sees that I feel uncomfortable with the situation and tries to make Malfoy go away.
"Whatever Malfoy Just leave, we're busy anyway," Hermione says.
"Why are trying to hide something because that would be dumb I will always find it" Malfoy shouts back making me shake lightly with fear.
Why do people always have to yell and why is he soo scary!
Malfoy turns around and looks down at me. I look down at my feet trying to make him go away by not meeting his gaze. Unfortunately, this doesn't work. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat.
"Well, who do we have here, trying to keep her to yourself Harry, make her yours so no one else can have her? We'll see about that" Malfoy says.
Then something unexpected happens, he grips my chin lightly and forces my eyes to meet with his. I freeze scared to move even an inch. His eyes held amusement until he saw how scared I was, the amusement turned to confusion. I became more confused than scared as I saw that but then Harry's voice snapped me back to reality. The others were still confused about what had just happened.
"Don't you dare touch her!" Harry spat looking directly at Malfoy with pure anger in his eyes. Standing menacingly facing him. I could tell he was trying to protect me but his voice told me he already hated Malfoy.
The look in Malfoy's eyes soon turned to annoyance and I thought for sure he was going to hit me so I covered back down. When I looked up I saw he had already turned to face Harry. A small sign escaped my lips but then they both turned to look at me. Then back at each other.
"Get out of the cart before I do something we both will regret," Harry said dangerously.
"Fine, but don't worry darling I'll be back for you soon," Malfoy said, the last part directed at me.
After he left, let out a breath I was holding. Harry crouched down in front of me.
"Hey it's okay he's gone now, why are you still shaking?" Harry asked with concern and care in his eyes.
"I-I'm o-okay now I t-think. Just a little surprised, he's kinda scary" I whispered.
"Trust us he's not that scary, all talk and no show," Hermione said now walking over with Ron to comfort me.
"Maybe but that's not what I learned," I said so quiet only I could hear.
After that, I got more comfortable around then and we got to know each other through the rest of the ride. Even the boys and I got a little closer it was a little scary still but they were kind. We talked about all our favorite things. I was so glad I was able to become friends with them. All of them agreed that I am very Hufflepuff like. But I still don't know I feel like I connect with all the houses in some way.
Soon enough the train got to school and I was nervous beyond belief but I was by my new friends.
That was not enough to stop my hands from trembling.
Wow, I think that had a pretty good word count but I will try to make it longer.
Just a reminder that this story does not go by the fourth year it's just set in that year, it won't follow the book/movie line very much.
I hope you guys like it!!
