Once again, Ferb woke up to his alarm, starting Phineas. This time, he was already dressed. “I’m never gonna get used to that.”

Ferb chuckled, grabbing his clothes while Phineas returned to his drawing.

“You can go down if you want,” Ferb reminded him.

Phineas paused in his drawing before placing his pencil down and giving Ferb a smile and going out the door. Ferb heard a door open and he figured he was in the bathroom, so he took his time getting ready.

Ferb went to the bathroom door and knocked. A blushing Phineas came rushing out. “Sorry Ferb. It’s just…” Phineas cut himself, catching his reflection in the mirror.

Ferb just nodded. “It’ll take you a while to get used to seeing yourself. Just know that you look good.”

Phineas smiled. “Thanks Ferb. I’ll go down stairs.” And he left.

Linda looked up from serving the pancakes onto the plates to see Phineas peaking around the corner, observing her. “You can come in Phineas,” she told him with a smile.

Phineas walked in and immediately sat down. “What’s for breakfast?”

“We figured we should try something more filling,” she said, placing a plate in front of him. “Pancakes. You can have as much as you want. I just gave you one for now.”

Phineas nodded, bringing the plate closer to him and waiting.

After a bit, Linda said, “You know you can eat without us.”

Phineas blushed. “I don’t know how. It doesn’t look like something to just be picked up like a sandwich. What, with this sticky stuff on top.”

Linda chuckled. “Of course. I almost forgot.” Ferb came in as Linda sat next to him. “Pancakes are usually eaten with a fork and knife.” She said holding the two up.

“Which ones which?” Phineas asked, glad he could now know what to call the objects.

“The one with four thin sticks is a fork, and the single blade with a sharper side is a knife. This kind is referred to as a butter knife since it’s not very sharp.”

Phineas nodded, picking up the two in the same hands Linda did.

“Now, you puncture the pancake with your fork,” she said demonstrating, “Then use your knife to cut a bite-sized piece off. After that you eat it and repeat the process.”

Phineas did it just like Linda showed him, but his movements seemed forced and unnatural. Ferb looked at him and remembered seeing him draw. “Try having your knife in your left hand.”

Phineas seemed confused, but switched hands and had a lot easier time cutting and eating the syrup and butter covered pancake. “How did you know that would work?” Phineas asked him. Keeping care to not open his mouth when there was food inside.

“I saw that you draw with your left hand. This proves that you’re left hand dominant like me. Mom’s right handed.”

Phineas nodded, confused but still understanding. “What’s the brown and white stuff on top?” He asked while Candace rushed in, eating quickly.

“Maple syrup and the white is butter,” Linda told him. “Candace, slow down. You’re gonna choke if you eat that fast.”

Candace swallowed, “Sorry Mom. I just don’t want to be late for school. Jeremy’s in my first class.”

“Who’s Jeremy?” Phineas asked, before continuing to eat.

“Oh, just the boy she fancies at school,” Lawrence said, putting a kettle of water on the stove.
