after the sight of shigaraki at the top of that water tank in hosu, yukiko excused herself to her room, where she questioned the possibility of izuku being in danger.

yukiko laid back on her bed, covering herself with the blanket, stared up at her ceiling, feeling her nerves in her feet, up to her knees, to her hips, her shoulders, elbows, fingertips, her neck and her nose, ears and eyelids. she watched as the light from her desk lamp flickered.

yuko gently knocked on her daughter's door, peeking in, "yukiko," she whispered softly, tip toeing in. "are you okay?"

"just... shocked." yukiko whispered, "izuku's in hosu, so is tenya, and if endavor's there, that means shoto is too. i should know i filed the damn paperwork." she complained.

yuko sat on the bed beside her, "they'll be okay. you said they're strong, right? i'm sure tenya's dashing circles around those weird brain things, and izuku's probably punching one in the face, and shoto is most definitely freezing one of them up."

yukiko sat up, looking at her mom, "they aren't that easy to defeat." she mumbled, "i mean, when i was at the USJ, the one that was restraining me wasn't even phased by my quirk. and All Might was throwing 100 punches a minute and he wasn't even phased. these kids couldn't even handle it."

"don't worry so much. if i know anything, it's that izuku is standing his ground." yuko kissed her daughter's head, "if you fall asleep, i'm just outside in the kitchen." her mother shut the curtains to the window beside her bed, "and if you happen to wake up, we can make some hot chocolate and eat ice cream while watching late night/early morning cartoons." her mother stood up, stepping towards yukiko's desk to shut off the lamp, something catching her attention. "i was wondering where this was." yuko lifted up the polaroid, smiling softly, "did you take this?"

"oh," yukiko looked at the photo in between her fingers, "yeah. i just wanted to look at it. you can take it back."

"you know," yuko sat back on the bed, "you've never been a good liar." she looked at the photo, "you get it from your father. awful liar, horrible. couldn't keep a secret for his life, either." she chuckled.

yukiko tucked her legs under her chin.

"i'm sure you've got questions. go ahead."

yukiko cleared her throat, "who was my dad?"

yuko smiled, "your father, ken endo, was the boy i fell in love with in my second year of high school. he used to leave little origami letters on my desk at school. he was a wonderful boy."

"what happened to him?"

yuko's smile slowly slipped away, "but ken endo as a man, he was different. always pushing off responsibilities, prioritizing himself. he came back from work, he worked at a hero agency. one day, and he was so angry. but, something told me that i had to check on you." yuko looked at her daughter, "if i had let him get me even more riled up, you could have died."

"what?"

"grandma brought by some flowers, however, you were allergic to pollen, thank god you outgrew that, and you were coughing and crying as your throat was closing." yuko sniffed, "and while i rushed you to the hospital, ken arrived not even 4 hours later."

"4 hours later?" yukiko furrowed her brows, "why did he hate me so much?"

"he wasn't too keen on either of us." yuko nodded, "he came home one day, packed his stuff and left. no good luck, or call if you need help. he walked out both of our lives."
