the first match started just as soon as the names were finished being announced. the students were sent up to the private seating as the two students remained. Cementos built up the sparring grounds, before heading back to the first years stadium, and the two stood at opposite ends.

yurei, toshino and inouye were all making conversation with each other while walking up the steps as yukiko followed behind, struck with anxiety. ahead of the four was shinji and takeshi. shinji seemed to do most of the talking between them both, takeshi only piping up to answer his questions or to inquire about shinji's odd attitude. while walking up the steps, yukiko couldn't help her eyes connecting with the latter as he glanced at her at each landing while they walked up the steps.

any other day and yukiko wouldn't be much scared as she was in the second, but, this wasn't every other day. it was the sports festival, and yukiko wasn't sure how she was going to defeat a priority hero course student.

sitting beside mahiro, yukiko clasped her hands together, twiddling her thumbs anxiously.

"don't be so nervous, yukiko. you'll do great." mahiro whispered, "i'm sure takeshi will scared your quirk right out of you, like hiccups."

"mahiro," she looked at the other girl, grabbing the girl's hands in her own, basically pleading, "i need you to do something for me." yukiko waited until mahiro made any indication for her to continue on, which came in the form of a gently tilt of her head, "i need you to use your quirk to at least give me the benefit of the doubt. i need you to bring it up so that if i even have a little bit of my power in me, it'll come out then."

mahiro smiled softly, "i'll try." and she turned back to watch the battle in the private seating, almost as if it wasn't a second thought.

Exanimate called out the rules, before allowing the match to begin. the student on the far right stood there, her hands in her pockets. and the other on the far left went dashing towards them. and before the other could latch on and kick them out of bounds, the other disappeared into something red — blood.

it bubbled a bit as the student went under and she popped up behind the challenger, nudging them out of the ring.

the stadium roared with cheers and applause, and yukiko was sure if they had cheered any louder the structure would fall.

"ruby advances. next battle." Exanimate ushered the two off the floor. there wasn't anything to clean up, much to the student bodies surprise considering ruby seemed to shed blood onto the ground.

yukiko began to question just how powerful her classmates were. if ruby was able to make her body turn from a solid into a liquid state, would she be able to absorb the blood from other students, no matter the type? or would she be able to bend the blood in peoples body?

if takeshi was able to change his strength size, does lifting weights have any effect on him? how strong was he able to be? what's his full power? and if given the change, could he eliminate All Might as the number one hero?

the questions rushed through her head and she sat there, her anxiety getting worse and worse by the second.

what could yukiko do? what would her quirk allow her to do? she knows she can inhale the oxygen and gases in the air, she knows she can secrete oxygen through her skin like it's sweat, she knows she can exhale 30,000 liters from her lungs — although that number might have changed now. she can transfer oxygen from herself to another living thing, and even steal breath from others. would she be able to create hurricanes if she blew enough? can she create windstorms and make the sky erupt with rain? could she make a barrier of air? a tornado?
