[the next few chapters will kind of be filler to get to know yukiko on a more personal level and her friends <3]

the waiting room was once again packed with students as they all prepped and psyched themselves up to get ready for the relay race.

tamiko had yukiko, kazuko and kin's shoes in her lap, applying the jellies on the bottom of their shoes with care, "now, the jellies can withstand over 1,000 steps, but when they get worn down, they pop almost like how a grape would if you step on it. also, be careful when you remove them, they can stain skin."

"tamiko, you're so cool!" yukiko cheered, "i never knew something like this could exist." she pulled her shoes back on, feeling suddenly lighter, "woah, this is cool."

"the jellies allow space between the two surfaces — your foot and the ground — so it feels like you aren't even walking with a cute design that won't make it obvious you're basically wearing moon shoes that eliminate sore feet. i'm working on making them much more durable and withstand for longer periods of time." tamiko smiles proudly, adding the last jelly onto the shoes, passing them back to each of them.

kazuko gasped, "it feels like i'm floating." she giggled, "imagine if you put these out into the business market! you'd make a profit. think of all the business workers and doctors and heroes that would purchase these!"

kin gave her a thumbs up, "i like them. you should definitely make more."

yukiko nodded, looking over to shinji, "are you nervous?"

"just a little." he smiled nervously.

"you won't be doing much running, and besides, if you do, you have tamiko's badass invention! it's a win-win."

shinji smiled, "i hope you're right."

"of course i'm right." she gave him a thumbs up and a smile, "all we need to do is pass this round and move on to the next one, then..." she sighed, "we have sparring."

the first group of teams went up, and finished almost immediately.

"oh, look! yurei and inouye are on the same team." yukiko smiled, watching her two friends race around the track. their team very clearly wanting to win.

everyone looked so determined to be competing in the races that when it was yukiko's team to go up, she felt a bit intimidated.

the order went kin as the starter, kazuko was second, tamiko third. yukiko was fourth, passing off the baton to shinji who would win the race for their team. thank god to tamiko's jellies, yukiko wasn't worried about her legs wearing out too quickly. the amount of times katsuki had to held her up after her legs collapsed was kind of embarrassing.

"on your marks," Hart announced, the first runners put their feet into the stops, "get ready," the students got ready to take off, "go!"

kin quickly dashed to kazuko, the neon blue baton held tightly in his hand, who passed it onto kazuko. kazuko ran almost faster than kin, making her way to tamiko in no time. the other team steadily caught up, but not quick enough as to when tamiko passed the baton to yukiko.
