Lego House

Kei and Lian dragged me to Hongdae. They wanted to unwind since exams are finally over. "Wah~! It's been a decade since I last felt relieved." Lian said, sipping her drink. We are at Quantum bar, a usual hangout place for younger people, particularly university students like us.

"You always exaggerate things." Kei said. "Shush! Just order more drinks. I want to get wasted tonight." Lian said as if she can hold a lot of alcohol.

Both were foreign students here in Korea while I was born here. We all met an international school in the Philippines as foreign students and now, we are college students in a well-known university nearby.

"Lian-ah, stop, we still have classes tomorrow, we can't get too drunk." I said. "You weren't even drinking Eunah-yah. It's just apple juice." She said, pointing out on my drinks. I don't feel like going here at all. I just wanna rest.

"It looks like they are setting up for a band." Kei said, looking at the stage as it is her first time here. "They have an open mic night here. Customers tend to sing covers and self-composed songs in here." I explained to her.

"Do you want to try? It is the same in the Philippines." I said, knowing she knows how to play instruments and sing. "Nah! I would rather watch than perform in front of these people." She said looking around the people around us

"You should sing your favorite song in noraebang here!" Lian said, looks like she is getting a little bit drunk. "Just shut up. Let's listen to the performers instead." Kei rolled her eyes at the Chinese-Filipino girl beside her.

The first performer went up and played his piano. He sings well for someone who is manly with a sharp feature. He is totally Lian's type.

Next are three handsome guys performing a song called U got it. It was one sexy acoustic performance. The tallest guy who looks like a cute dog with a fatally sexy voice said it is a dance song that he and the beautifully handsome guy performed. The rapper introduced himself as Kim Yohan. It caused an uproar since he is the popular taekwondo athlete in another university.

After them, a guy set up his guitar and the staff set up two high stools and three microphones at the center. Two might be for the performers and one for the guitar. I told my friends that I am going to the restroom.

As I got out from washing my hands, I saw the guitar start to strum with the familiar song I used to love.

'I'm gonna pick up the pieces and build a Lego house

If things go wrong, we can knock it down'

The light shined on the guitarist's companion as I heard the very familiar lyrics sung by a very familiar voice.

'My three words have two meanings but there's one thing on my mind

I saw him, after a long time. The guy I thought I would never see again.

'And it's dark in a cold December, but I've got you to keep me warm' the guitarist sang.

He doesn't change a bit but at the same time something has changed.

I stared at him as he closed his eyes to sing the chorus, still passionate as ever.

I'll pick you up when you're getting down'

His voice is still as sweet as ever. I remember he used to bring his guitar over and play this exact song.
