Linny - Ginny and Luna's Secret

Chapter 4 - An afternoon at the lake

There she was, as Ginny rounded a turn in the path she got a clear view of the shore of the great lake a she could see Luna sitting down there on a red and white checkered picnic blanket waiting for Ginny

Ginny picked up the bottom of her dress and ran down to Luna sitting down quickly on the blanket and breathlessly saying hi to Luna. So much for her endless rehearsing on how to say hello. Luna smiles at Ginny and looked straight into her eyes seemingly taking in all of Ginny.

"You look beautiful Ginny"

"Says you" Ginny replied
"You're literally perfect" she stammered

Luna smiled and shook her head before opening the picnic basket she had next to her. She picked up her wand and started using it transporting all sort of delicious looking goodies over to the middle of the picnic blanket. Treacle pudding, pumpkin juice, little sweets, jam sandwiches and strawberries were a few of the treats she took out. Ginny's  eyes widened as she took a strawberry from the plate int eh middle and out it in her mouth. She had never tasted a strawberry so good, it melted on her tongue and it's sweetness took over her mouth without being overwhelming.

She turned to Luna "Wherever did you get all this delicious food?"

"The house elves of course" Luna replied
"I'm a actually quite good friends with some of them and they agreed to make me some extra food just for the occasion"

Ginny felt honoured to be enough of an occasion for the Hogwarts house elves to specially make food. They ate all the food and when they finished Luna picked up the hamper and looked at Ginny.

"So did you bring a swimsuit?"

"Of course" Replied Ginny.

She lifted up her dress and took is off, already wearing her aqua swimsuit, she was ready to go swimming as soon as Luna was. She noticed Luna staring at her and she smiled back. Luna looked embarrassed and quickly averted her eyes making the air between them awkward for a few seconds.

Luna who was wearing a light blue flowered skirt and a white cropped blouse tied at the front with puffed sleeves pulled down her skirt and then untied the bow on her top taking it off. Ginny lost her breathe momentarily looking at Luna in her gorgeous white bikini. How could anyone be so absolutely angelic? Lastly Luna took out a pair of silver moon earrings from her earlobes and placed them on a rock before turning to Ginny and taking her hand.

"Come on! What are you waiting for?"

Ginny dived off the pier into the dark blue water and she swam down for a second or two before bobbing back up to the surface to find Luna beside her. The water was chilly at first giving her little goosebumps all over her arms but she quickly got used to the temperature.

She and Luna must have spent at least an hour swimming in the water and then sunbathing on the sandy banks of the lake. Only when the afternoon sun disappeared behind the Scottish hillsides and the temperature began to drop did they wrap their towels around themselves and begin to head back up to the school. Luna took her beautiful blond curls and twisted them together squeezing out the water from her silky then changing her gaze to Ginny.

"I had a really good time today Ginny, I hope we can do this again"

"Me too" replied Ginny
"That would be lovely"

That evening in the Gryffindor common room Ginny couldn't stop smiling. Every time someone would ask her why she was so happy she just replied with

"Oh I got full marks on my transfiguration quiz which is good because McGonagall said she was going to send an owl home if my grades drop any further."

That night Ginny had the weirdest dream. She was sitting on the lakeshore with Luna when the girl leaned in, so close until Ginny's freckled were practically touching Luna's fair skin. In the dream they kissed. Ginny lent in as well and their lips touched , staying there for a moment before pulling away. Of course it was just a dream but Ginny  couldn't stop thinking about Luna's soft lips for ages after.
