Linny - Ginny and Luna's Secret

Chapter 7 - Detention with Umbridge

Ginny was not looking forward to her detention with Umbridge and before she knew it Tuesday has passed and then Wednesday and it was Wednesday afternoon. She sat in the Gryffindor common room that evening dreading 7 o'clock reading, the time seemingly whizzing by and soon looked up from her History of magic homework at at the clock on the wall.

"Shit" Ginny swore out loud it was 7:20, she was already twenty minutes late for her detention with Umbridge. Ginny grabbed her book bag and sprinted through the portrait hole leaving the fat lady screaming "what's the hurry" And thankfully didn't run into filtch or peeves on the way. She reached Umbridge's office and knocked on the door, she didn't even look at her watch, she wasn't sure she wanted to.

The door swung open and short little Umbridge stood in the doorway looking up at Ginny.

"I thought you weren't going to come" Said Umbridge's smirking in her high little voice

"Sorry lost track of time" Mumbled Ginny counting the number of times her shoelaces laced through her shoes.

"Quite clearly" said Umbridge now peering under to try and look at Ginny's face.

Ginny still didn't dare make eye contact with her and looked back at her laces. 12 times.

"I can redo my detention tomorrow if you would like, I really am sorry"

"I think not" Replied Umbridge now smirking wider. "Seeing as your already here why don't you do a detention today and tommorow?"

Ginny grounded inwardly bus didn't complain. She looked up at her teacher now and nodded. "What am I doing for my detention?"

"Filtch has some work for you to do, he'll be here in a moment. Meanwhile you can come and sit down in my office."

Ginny walked through the door and almost felt sick when she enter entered the room. Everything thing was pink, the armchairs the trimming on the desk, even the carpet was a sickening shade of pink.  All over the wall as of the office were cats. Plates with cats on them,  framed pictures of cats, all mewing and licking themselves.

Ginny was just looking at the photo of the minister Cornelius Fudge when someone knocked on the door.

Umbridge got up and walked across the room bouncing with each step and opened  the door. There stood Filtch and his little cat Mrs Norris.

He looked at Ginny with upmost disgust "Here's the student. Back in my day we would just hang them from chains in the dungeon" Filtch was always complaining loudly about the lack of torture devices used on the students.

Filtch limped along the corridor Ginny trailing behind. He took her all the way to the entrance of the bathroom that Ginny had entered the chamber of secrets from in her first year. "

"You'll be cleaning this girls bathroom" He snared eyeing Ginny

"But this is morning Myrtle's bathroom, it's out of order, no one ever goes in here."

Filtch glared at her "No complaining, I'll be back in an hour to see how much homework you've done.

Filtch opened the door  for Ginny who walked inside immediately slipping in a puddle in the floor and falling over. Filtch glared and her one final time and slammed the door shut. Everyone knew that Filtch was a squib and therefore hated students but Ginny had never really been in enough trouble to have to see him before.

Meaning Myrtle giggled from the top of a toilet stall and Ginny was forced to look up still holding her painful ankle.
"What are you doing here?" she asked in her high pitched voice, coming off of the toilet stall and closer to Ginny.

"I've beer sent to clean your bathroom, for my detention"

Myrtle giggled again "Oooh naughty girl" squealed Myrtal.

Ginny tried to ignore her and began mopping the water off the floor.

When her arms ached and she felt she couldn't mop the floors for a moment more Filtch came in to says he must go to bed, probably because he could keep her up any longer.  Thankful, her back doubled up Ginny picked up her stuff and followed Filtch back to Gryffindor common room where she gladly king sank into her warm bed not even bothering to brush her teeth.
