Claire

With a glass of amber liquid, a man's drink in a woman's hand, I walked straight into a group of men where Daniel was. His not so perfect date just standing beside him gazing at the other wives and dates of the men who were discussing business. The difference between her, those dates, and I was that I didn't need a man to stand there. I owned the position, power, and my own mind.

"Claire," an elderly man greeted me with a smile over my face. He was one of the many we did business with. I saw everyone's eyes turn my way, assessing me. The men admiring what they saw and even woman did but one particularly didn't. Daniel didn't look at me and it just added fuel to the fire.

"Good evening everyone," I did a once over all the familiar faces around us. All were known putting me at ease. They all knew very well that I was a woman who meant business. I wasn't a precious doll like others.

"Any interesting deal worth hearing about?" I asked my eyes on the sweet little date of Daniel. I loved how anger swarm in those eyes. "Daniel?" Sipping my drinking my eyes met his.

"Nothing worth putting on the table," he gave a brief reply.

"I heard you were looking for investors for a new project, Mr. Agnus?" I dig around for information worth investing. Making investments in new projects always looked in the headlines.

"Yes but its my son who is handling this. I'm sure he would really like to know about somoene like you being interested in it." Giving him one of my dazzling smile I became the woman digging around everyone's interest of business right now. The only suprising thing was that none of minded because a sharp mind with a appeasing face and body was always worthy under their eyes. I could see the hold on Danile's glass of scothc titghtening. Maybe I did steal away all the glamour.

"A luxurious cabin in the hilly areas is something, everyone would like to put their money in, Jackson." He didn't mind that I called him on the first name basis because it all came to how high and cunning you were in the name of business.

"That's why I'm so sure about this project. Your own personal space and I'm even throwing in the housekeeping. You don't have to worry about food, servants, grocery and cleaning. Nothing. I mean people are meant to enjoy vacation not be worried about the basic stuff or privacy issues. I think everyone's including the ladies need a peice of mind." We all laughed and in the last fifteen minutes of talks everyone was looking at new projects to invest in and what was going around. Though I didn't consider anyone of them to be an ideal man but none of them were abusive to make me hate them.

As I looked at Irene I saw how she stood there being nothing but a dumb woman. I would say even the wives of all other men were in a far better place than her.

"How has the House of Happiness been, Mrs. Fuller." It was a charity been run by her for children of all ages to help the youth in need and guiding them. It was really a house of happiness when you heard the laughs of those children being happy.

"It has been really good. I'm thankful for the donation that came from you." I could see the generosity in those eyes. She was the only woman who didn't see me with jealousy or negative emotions. She had no children but her husband did. She was a middle-aged woman and with her aging, she gained more and more respect in society and I respected her more than ever.

"It's the least I could do. I heard you were going to add another wing for young people who were in trouble. I bet my friend could help with that on a personal level." I added glancing at Daniel because he clearly knew who that friend was and what he liked.

"Could you give us a moment please," Daniel wrapping his hand around my waist had me moving with him. I looked behind and all of them smiling at us but his petite date looked ad if she was going to burst. Keeping quiet I just let him lead me where ever he was taking me. I rather sipped my drink passing up smiles to whoever looked at us. There were a few too many words I wanted to say to this man.
