With this new information, Laura was confused. How did her mother meet Gabriel, and why did they not stay together? Laura was caught up in her thoughts, when she realized "Wait my mother was a chosen, and Gabriel is a chosen! How is Gabriel president, if he is a chosen, that is illegal. So is two chosens being together."
Laura is the daughter of two chosens, and one of them just happens to be her "adoptive" parent, and the president. Laura had to find out what happened between Gabriel and his mother, why she was locked up all her life, and who the woman in the picture was. And the best person to ask just so happened to have just arrived back from a business trip not too long ago.
Laura went to her father, yes she wasn't supposed to go out of her wing, but what was a few more rules broken anyway. As Laura walked into the office, her father was sitting at his desk doing something. The door slammed behind Laura, and Gabriel looked up and saw his daughter standing in front of the door, holding the book that was "stolen" a few days ago, and all he could do was stare.
