MORALITYS POV
When I returned to the Mindpalace, Anxiety had slightly calmed down. He and Logic were doing a grounding exercise of their own in the corner. (Breathing exercise, you dirty minded people.) Light Creativity was viewing a calming Disney movie and Remus was still being a crackhead. Of course. That's Remus for you. Once Thomas and I had finished talking, I ducked out. Quack. I had a lot to think about. I returned to my room and had a Green Goblin-esque talking situation. Looking in the mirror, I allowed myself to think out loud.
"Wow. That was a lot of information to take in all at once."
"Yesss, but would you expect anything less from a closeted depressed person?"
"I guess not. I just figured that Thomas would have told us that something was wrong."
"So are we going to keep his sssecret, or aren't we?"
"You remember when Thomas was little? His parents taught him that there are certain secrets that should be kept, and secrets that shouldn't."
"Your point being...?"
"That this is a secret that shouldn't be kept. This secret could really hurt Thomas. I think that we need to tell someone."
"But he asked us not to. It seemed to me that he has some valid reasons for keeping it to himself. He is protecting those around him from distressing information."
"That's true, but by keeping this to himself, he causes more harm to himself. I am Thomas's fun-loving father figure figment and as his father, I need to make sure that he stays safe. I need to tell someone."
"But are you really going to betray the trust of your "son"? Because that's what you would be doing. He asked you not to do something, told you something in confidence, and now you are going to spill that secret and break that confidence?"
"I don't know what I should-"
"Morality?" I jerk my head towards the door. Logic is standing there. Watching.
"How... how long have you been standing there, kiddo?"
"Long enough. Is everything alright?"
"No. Yes." Stupid mouth. Why'd I have to say that? Thomas needs help! Why'd I have to lie?The concern in Logic's eyes is growing. He knows something is up. "That seems like a contradictory answer. I shall ask again. Are you alright?"
"I don't know... yes. No." I don't know why I was contradicting myself. I had never felt like this before. It was like half of me wanted to get help, but the other half was incredibly guarded. My face must have looked confused because all of a sudden, Logic was there with his arms wrapped around me.
"Morality. What is going on? I feel that you are not being entirely honest with me."
"Or myself for that matter." I mumble and he pulls away.
"I didn't quite catch that. What was that?" Had I said that outloud? I hadn't meant to.
"Nothing. Nothing is going on. Nothing is wrong. I said nothing. Thank you for being worried, but I am fine." I plaster on a smile, one that doesn't quite reach my eyes. And of course, he notices. He doesn't say anything about it, but I can tell in his eyes. He understands. He always understands. Nothing can get past Logic."Sure. I hope you'll come out of your room soon. Anxiety is starting to get, well, anxious. He doesn't do well when you're not around."
"I'll be down." Yet another fake smile, yet another blank response. As Logic closes the door, something new happens. I feel my knees buckle, and as I start my short, involuntary journey to the floor, I feel myself stop. What feel like hands support my back, but my hands are by my sides and my room is empty, so why did I stop falling? I'm a liar. I deserve to be on the floor. Since, evidently, the floor is off limits, I sit in my desk chair. Looking in my vanity, I resume my conversation with myself.
"Great job! Now Logic's on our scent."
"He doesn't know anything. You wouldn't let me tell him."
"Well that's not entirely true. You didn't tell him either. You could have." I had had enough of me. Feeling a sudden fire in my bones, I punch my mirror, shards exploding everywhere. "Fantassstic! Now the entire Mindpalace knows something is up. Logic is probably standing right outside the door!"
"Oh hush up. Let's just go downstairs so that I can get Thomas some help."
"Whatever I say."751 Words
