PRESTON

What in the actual hell?

Right now, I have no idea what to think. Those creatures- well I don't even know how to describe them. Flying-leathery-freaky-alien-zombies? That does not even begin to describe them.

The other kid who was beside me looked frustrated, but not shocked or scared to death. He was mumbling a string of curses under his breath.

'Look man, I don't know what your deal is right now', he turned quickly twirling the cheap pen like it was a nervous habit. 'But those things right there are bad trouble. We have to get to Camp, like right now.'

Half the things he was saying was not making any sense, but it looked like he knew what was going on. Perhaps this was a classified mutants testing facility? That would explain a few things.

Woah! But one thing it probably wouldn't be able to explain was how the kid was holding a baseball bat, when he was clearly holding a small normal pen a few seconds ago?

I tried to focus on the object but one of the flying creatures swooped down baring its moldy teeth. The boy next to me reacted with a shocking agility and sliced it midways- the weapon cutting the creature like a slice of butter- before it could gouge my eyes out. The creature just burst into dust, giving a disgusting smell.

Wait a second. Wasn't he just holding a bat or something? And now, he seems to be holding a glowing sword?

'Stop standing there man, and follow me!', the kid yelled, bringing me back. I was slightly ashamed of myself. Here I was, letting a kid of might was way younger than me do all the heavy lifting.

The other creatures did not look pleased to see their friend turned into dust, and they became more vicious now. 'Run kid!', I yelled, stumbling behind him.

It was now an uphill battle. We started running, I uselessly shooting whenever they got too close, and the kid was effectively killing them with his sword.

'Get down!'. A voice shouted from ahead. I didn't go to question the squeaky teenager who had said it and hit the ground, rolling to the side. Percy did the same thing, and rolled towards theleft side of the bushes.

A shower of arrows started falling upon the creatures. Three of them immediately turned into dust, surprise clearly evident on their weird faces. The remaining three, immediately began to retreat as the onslaught of arrows continued.

With the creatures gone, I stood up shakily. The other kid was holding a pen now. My mind was paining. What had just happened?

PERCY

Slowly getting up, I was mentally cursing Hades. Why were we attacked by the fury and a whole gang of underworld monsters? Also I had left all my stuff in the car, specifically, my cookies.

Turning around to see the man who had been with him confused, he said, 'Those things that attacked us, did they happen to look like crows? The biggest crows I've seen in my life! Those crows, jeez.'

'What the hell are you talking about. They were monster like creatu- crows? Really?' the man was staring at him like he had grown a third eye.

Oh well, I tried. Thalia tried teaching me how to control the Mist, but I've apparently not gotten the hang of it yet.

He continued, 'Who are you people and what were those things?' He immediately turned and points his gun at the sound of leaves crunching, to see two people in bright orange shirts marching towards us. Clarisse and Will.
