~°Noah's POV°~

Every single eleventh Wednesday of February is spent in the black shark swimming competition. For as long as I can remember, I've participated and won victoriously, providing my school the honours of having the trophies they possess.

This time, not only am I not winning, I am not even playing. I am not getting that chance of feeling the water and rubbing wet bodies with opponents. Neither am I even getting an acknowledgement. It feels sad but what's sadder is the noises. The screaming. The crying. The torture I can hear, feel, and even breathe from downstairs.

"No, George! It's not going to be best! I need to - "

"Shut up! You don't have an idea what -"

"George!"

Argh!!!

It's been going on and on for forever and all I want to do is eliminate myself from this world. Ever since Dad died, I always wish I could join him. But then....

"You will be late for your competition if you don't get ready," Aunt Rose says and closes the door.

I pull the duvet down from my head and stare at nothing. Even if i'm not playing, at least substituting isn't so bad. I need a distraction from all these.

I stand up and prepare for school. I grab my bag, dash in three pairs of underwear, T-shirts, and two jean trousers. My comb, perfume and mirror, headphones, earpiece and phone.

I zip the bag, grab my towel and head for the bathroom. In a couple of minutes, I'm done and dusted. I grab my bag and head downstairs.

As expected, I can see Mum in tears and George on the sofa, watching TV and not even minding her.

"Good morning Mum," I say.

"Oh....I totally forgot...." she wipes her tears hurriedly. "You're having the black shark today...I'm so sorry, Noah," she says, holding my hands.

"Mum - " I interrupt. "It's okay. I'm alright. I just need to say we'll be back by Saturday and will you be okay?" I ask.

"Yes! Yes, sure," she says with a smile.

"Mum...." I call out, piercing into her eyes. I can tell she's lying. I don't want to come back home and meet a cadaver for a mother.

"If that mother fucking heartless fool touches you one more time Mum... I swear I'm going to kill him!" I assure firmly.

"Noah....keep your voice down," she says.

My what now?

"Mum, you need to get a divorce! That fool for the devil doesn't deserve you!!" I spit.

"Noah, it's our issue. We are going to resolve it," she smiles.

Resolve what?!

"When are you going to stop lying to yourself, Mum?" I ask and immediately, she bursts out crying. She cries so pitiably that I want to bury that monster as soon as I can.

I drag her in and hug her tightly, not minding my uniform getting stained. Mum doesn't deserve this one bit.

"Take care of yourself, Noah," she says as we drift.
