"Jenny!" I call out but she doesn't turn back. She gets into the red Sequoia and it drives off, leaving me tensed. I face palm, angry that she had to see that. I was just shocked.
When I saw Shade earlier, I couldn't take my eyes off for some reason. I couldn't believe she was back and now she kissed me. What was I expected to do? Get my brain in order and flinch? I was dumbfounded, surprised and even, I -
"Hey, Noah! Watcha doing?"
I turn, staring at Shade in her skimpy red bikini and her usual smiles. She comes closer and looks around suspiciously, and then has a confused look as she curls her hair slowly in her finger and observes me for a second before lifting her lip in a smirk.
"Where's the girl? Why'd she run off anyways?" she asks. "For a moment, I thought - "
"She's Jenny," I say, interrupting her and she nods slowly.
"Cool name. Jen - nei," she pronounces. "I was going to ask you, if - "
"She's my girlfriend, Shade. And you shouldn't have kissed me earlier. It was very inappropriate and now she's mad. You made her mad. I've got to fix this," I say and grab my phone but she snatches it away from my hand almost immediately.
"What are you doing?" I seethe and she hangs up the call, placing the phone behind her and she looks up at me with a smile.
"I'm back for a reason, Noah," she states and I sigh, staring at her with disbelief. She hasn't changed one bit. Still that clingy, annoying girlfriend I broke up with years ago. She's still Shade and nothing changed about her.
"And what could that be?" I ask, seriously uninterested.
"Us," she replies. I mean, she has the guts to.
"There's no us, Shade. Forget it. I've moved on and we were only kids when we fell for each other. We didn't know what we were doing. It'll be a great favour if you could stay out of my life. For good!" I state angrily and attempt leaving but she grips my arm firmly and I turn at her in anger.
She is running my patience thin.
"I think we need to talk. Now," she says and walks away. With a sigh, I follow just behind her and we both enter Matthew's house and settle in the living room. Despite the deafening sound of music outside, inside seems rather quiet and peaceful. The interior is perfect and even better than how I saw it last time. Few of my classmates are inside, either making out or casually talking. I guess it's the best place for Shade and I to end things for once and for all.
"What's this about?" I ask, sitting on a couch and she takes a deep breath, stands up and walks over to me.
I guess it's so hard nowadays for ladies to dress decently and still be happy about it. It's so hard to keep my eyes to her face when her body is literally staring at me. From her exposed cleavages to her indecent bikini. Very, very typical of Shade.
"Noah, I am sorry. I - I know I left for the stats without notice but I swear I needed to. Please believe me - "
"This has nothing to do with the States, Shade. In fact, I don't care. Get it?" I say and attempt standing up.
