The air was warm and refreshing, the sound of water rushing sounding pleasantly calm to their ears, the tide washing over the soft sand. It was just the two of them, and they could almost taste the waves that were rolling behind them, their feet digging into the sand. Crystal looked at Vann Melon in admiration, light dancing in her lilac eyes as he stared into them with mint green.
Yes, they were very much in love, despite many people warning Crystal that he was not to be trusted. She didn't believe them, as they were not the ones there for her, but Vann Melon was - he always was, and that's why she loved him. Maybe she was wrong to believe Avocado was good, but Vann Melon was different.
Although he had left Arya behind, it was never his intention for her to end up in a forest, and Vann Melon was trying to get Arya to forgive and love him again, but she was anything other than forgiving because she knew more than Crystal. She knew that he called her ugly and all the other horrible things he said, but as Vann Melon denied it, Crystal believed him, claiming that Arya did not have an eidetic memory, and that this was all a fragment of her imagination.
Then, Vann Melon put one knee down onto the sandy ground, pulling out a ring between his hands. Crystal was grinning and helplessly in love as she put her hand over her mouth in utter shock.
Vann Melon was smiling back at her pleasantly as he asked, "Will you marry me?"
It took her no time to think; "YES!" she declared, extremely overwhelmed and contented. He stood up, putting the ring on her finger in a gentleman-like manner. She could hardly believe her eyes. The ring looked expensive, a diamond sparkling on the front and an array of colours were reflecting back as she tilted it. "How did you manage to buy this?"
He laughed. "Do you like it?"
"Of course!" She replied, studying it, still unable to understand how he could afford something so expensive. "It's just... it must have been very expensive, right?"
He smirked, seeming pleased with himself. "Yeah, but I wouldn't mind spending that kind of money on you. And also, I got a promotion from my job - they were pleased how my last mission went down - I successfully staked two vampires."
"Vampires?" Crystal asked incredulously.
"Yeah," he replied. "You didn't know I'm a vampire hunter?"
Crystal was less worried about the fact that he was a vampire hunter, and was more worried about who he harmed."Who did you kill?"
He was silent at first. "Don't know. They're just creatures, aren't they? Vampires don't matter."
"Chiyo said she got attacked... didn't see who it was, but she survived it because she wasn't fully converted into a vampire yet. Rafael is dead, though, and she's really sad about that."
"That has nothing to do with me," Vann Melon lied, still smirking. "Is Chiyo a vampire or a human?"
"She's a human, but she was going to be a vampire... Rafael died to soon."
"Oh," Vann Melon said. "What a shame. It would've been cool if she was a vampire. I'd be able to get another promotion."
"How would you get a promotion if she's a vampire?" Crystal asked cluelessly. "Don't you only get a promotion if you stake a vampire?"
He laughed, finding it amusing that Crystal could not believe that Vann Melon would not mind killing her. In fact, he wanted to kill her. "When we get married," he said, "I want Arya to move in with us."
"Are you sure about that?" Crystal asked. "Shadow might not be comfortable yet, they're still too young to start living together."
"No," he corrected, "she's moving in because she's my daughter, not because she's dating Shadow."
"Oh... what about Livia? That's her daughter too, isn't it?"
"Arya is nothing to Livia," Vann Melon replied, slightly irritated. "Only Dreamer is, but she doesn't want Arya - she only cares about Skylar, the kid she has with Byron."
"Arya likes Skylar."
"They don't want her," he snapped back. "Byron, Dreamer, Ashy and Livia... so I am adopting her, and because we're married, so will you."
"That's a lot of children... and I can't do that to Livia."
"So you have a problem with taking in one of my daughters, but I don't have a problem with you and your children with Avocado?!"
Crystal looked apologetic. "I'm sorry. But we'll have to ask."
"We don't need to ask," he insisted firmly, green eyes malicious. "She's my daughter so no one else has a right to tell me what I can do and what I can't do. We'll finally have a perfect family when we're married, and Arya will be your daughter, just as Shadow will become my son."
"But they're dating... how is that going to work out? They'll be devastated!"
He put an arm around her, grinning. "Don't worry about them. This is about us, love and wedding. They should be lucky that they have a home, because we're the ones paying for them, aren't we?"
"Arya is going to refuse," Crystal told him quietly. "She likes Livia."
"It's not up to her. She has to follow me, because I have the right to bring her to our family. She's forever bonded to me. We'll get married soon, won't we? We can't keep Arya waiting too long in Livia's place. Considering Livia and Ashy split up, we don't want Arya living in a mess now, do we?"
Crystal nodded. "I guess you're right. You should tell Arya and Livia... and I'll tell the kids..."
Vann Melon leaned forwards and kissed Crystal, holding her by her waist. "I love you," he told her sweetly, and she was holding onto him.
"I love you too, Vann Melon."
