CHAPTER 10

"NAKAKAGULAT NA WALANG Anya na nagpaparamdam, ah."

Hindi na lamang ako sumagot sa naging pahayag ni Luna. Kahit si Caleb ay nagtataka kung bakit daw hindi niya nakikita si Anya nitong mga nakaraang araw. Nagsimula talaga 'yon noong araw na komprontahin ko si Anya na tigilan na niya ako. Hindi ko alam kung nakarating na ba kina Luna at Scarlett ang nangyaring 'yon, pero hindi ko pa rin magawang sabihin sa kanila. Alam ko kasing magagalit lang din sila sa akin. Kahit ako naman, nagagalit ako sa sarili ko kasi nasaktan ko si Anya. I just want to spare myself from the pain that she could cause me.

"Baka nauntog na? Nakahanap na ng iba?"

For the first time in my life since I met Luna, this is the only time that I got annoyed at her. What she said scared me, so much that I want to run back to Anya. But of course, I can't do it. I don't have the guts to do it after I pushed her away so many times.

"Ah, alam ko na," sambit ni Luna. When she said that, I know she knows what's happening already. Malakas din kutuban ang isang 'to, eh.

"Oh, please, Luna," I sighed. "Nasaan na ba si Scarlett? Bakit pinapabayaan ka na mag-isa? Kailangan ko ng space."

Luna giggled. "Kaya pinagtulakan mo na namang palayo si Anya? Kapag napagod talaga 'yon, Symon, sige ka."

I rolled my eyes at her. "You're not helping, you know," I said.

"Who said I'm trying to help you? I'm just telling you the possibilities. The more you ignore her, the more you're giving her a reason to just give up. Because the thing is, no one wants someone who doesn't treat them the way they should be treated."

"I didn't mean to push her away," I confessed. "Natakot lang naman ako na baka saktan niya lang ako."

"Siya ba, hindi ba siya takot na masaktan?" I didn't reply to what Luna has said. "I get it that you are afraid to be hurt, but that doesn't mean we should hurt other people for us to be spared from the pain. That's one thing I have learned."

I felt even more frustrated.

"If she really doesn't love you, she will be gone already the moment you showed no interest to her. But she stayed, and she keeps on doing her best to show you how far she can go for you. If it isn't love, I don't know what it is."

"ARE YOU STILL courting Anya?"

Xavier glanced at me sideways with an annoying smirk on his face. Annoying it is because it's like he's telling me that I can't get past him—which is true. Wala naman talaga akong panama sa kanya.

"Are you threatened?" Xavier playfully asked. Man, this guy really has his darkness.

Xavier can go around with a smiling face but nobody knows what's really going on inside his head. He is only genuine to a very few people and when it comes to others, he doesn't really care so much. He will just smile, will casually talk to them, and will make you feel that you are already close when the truth is not. Never will you be.

To be honest, I haven't seen him mad—like really mad, and I wouldn't wish to see him like that. Mag-seryoso lamang si Xavier ay nakakatakot na kaagad kaya isang saway pa lamang ni Xavier sa amin, tumatahimik na kami. Hindi ko alam kung saan niya namana ang ugali niya kasi ang parents naman niya, parehong magiliw sa mga tao. Tapos si Kuya Francis, ang panganay na kapatid ni Xavier, akala mo naman ay santo sa sobrang bait.
