CHAPTER 15

"IF YOU ARE bothered by the thought that your ex-boyfriend is friends with the girl you like, why don't you tell Anya about him?"

I sighed heavily upon hearing Luna's question. "I can't do that," I said. "She's already friends with him, and I know it will be hard for her to choose between the two of us. I don't want to give her a burden."

"Pero ikaw na ang may sabing may masamang binabalak si Kenzo. The purpose of telling Anya about him is just to protect her and she needs to know this, too. Para sa kanya at para sa inyo." I can hear concern and frustration in Luna's voice. She's worried for the two of us, and I know that she knows that Kenzo has bothered me so much.

"I don't want to break her heart," I replied. "I know how much it will hurt Anya if she's going to lose a friend. I don't want to hurt Anya."

"So hahayaan mo na lang na si Kenzo ang manakit sa inyong dalawa?" Tanong ni Luna. "I want to give Kenzo a benefit of the doubt, but what if totoo nga ang hinala mo? Si Anya ang maiipit sa sitwasyon, eh, and it will hurt her more if you won't do anything about it."

I ran my fingers onto my hair in frustration and held my head. Pakiramdam ko ay sasabog na ang ulo ko dahil sa sobrang dami ng iniisip at problema ko. "Do you think Anya will hate me? I don't want her to think that I am just using her to forget my ex-boyfriend or to get even with him."

"I don't think Anya is that type of person," Luna said, rubbing my back to comfort me. "Trust Anya. She's a strong and determined girl. She wouldn't be swayed by this, okay?"

Dahan-dahan akong tumango. I don't want to keep anything from Anya and I need to trust her if I really want this relationship to work out. Anya has been doing her best, and I can't just let Kenzo interfere with us.

"Symon..."

Sabay kaming napalingon ni Luna kay Xavier. Halos nakalimutan na naming kasama nga pala namin ito dahil masyado itong abala sa pag-re-review para paparating na midterms.

"If you are still broken from the recent relationship you had with Keith, then do not be with Anya in the meantime. If you will try to pursue her while you're still healing, with all your issues, it's Anya who will be broken in the process of trying to save you."

It feels like my world stopped with what Xavier has said. It has been almost a year only since I broke up with Kenzo, and Xavier knows how our relationship damaged me and worsen my trust issues.

I clenched my jaw and balled my fists. "I would never let Anya experience the same pain I have experienced," I determinedly said.

"KANINA PA AKO salita nang salita dito pero hindi ka naman nakikinig."

I snapped back from my reverie and I saw Anya pouting like a kid. She is so cute that I can't help but smile.

"Is it okay to ask?" I suddenly asked her.

Mabilis pa sa alas quatro na nagbago ang mood niya. She has given me all her attention and she even leaned towards me. She placed her hands under her chin, blinking her eyes and smiling like a cute little puppy towards me.

"Sure, future boyfriend," and she smiled happily.

This is what I like about her. She's such a ball of energy and she's contagious. She can lift people's moods easily whenever she's around, and I don't think I know what to do without her anymore.
