CHAPTER 1

"BALITA KO MAGKAAWAY na naman sina Scarlett at Luna. Dahil na naman ba kay Lance?" Tanong ni Xavier matapos akong abutan ng maiinom. Xavier is my cousin. He is taking a Civil Engineering program and is now in his third year in college.

The people we were talking about are our friends who were caught in a very complicated love triangle. Scarlett, who is also my and Xavier's cousin, and Lance, our childhood friend, are both in love with Luna. But we both knew it's Scarlett who Luna really loves. Pareho lamang silang takot na masaktan si Lance at masaktan ang isa't isa. After all, none of the two of them ever had a relationship with someone of the same-sex, making Scarlett and Luna both confused and afraid.

Umiling ako bilang kasagutan sa tanong ni Xavier. "Luna had seen Scarlett with Clifford," I told him and it seems that what I said piqued his interest. Clifford is also our friend, who was Scarlett's first love.

Masyado kasi siyang naging busy sa Council dahil siya ang Vice President ng Supreme Student Council ng St. Therese University. He could actually make it as the President, given that he is popular and got looks. But he said that it will be a handful for him if he is going to run for the presidency, considering that they are fully loaded on their program. Kapag sobrang busy nga nito, parang hindi na niya kami mga kaibigan, eh. Walang pansinan hanggang sa matapos niya lahat ng trabaho niya. Nakakatakot si Xavier, sa totoo lang.

At dahil ito na ang huling linggo ng unang semestre ng taon, wala na kami halos kailangan pang intindihin. Though Xavier and I will surely need to go to school during the school break since we are both student leaders. Vice President din kasi ako ng Student Council ng aming department, ang College of Liberal Arts. Besides, I would want to spend the whole school break reviewing and preparing because after taking AB Literature, I'm planning to go to law school when I graduate, which is more or less two years from now. Law school is no joke, and I don't even know if two years are enough for my preparation. I'm not planning to fail, not even in law school. That's the goal.

"Ano na ang balak mong gawin ngayon?" I asked him. I want to be mad at him because he still has the guts to laugh at moments like this when our friends' hearts are at risk. Parang wala man lang empathy sa katawan o sadyang ayaw niya lamang seryosohin ang mga bagay-bagay lalo na kapag tungkol sa pag-ibig.

"Nothing. I have already done my part. Ano man ang maging resulta ng lahat ng ito, wala na akong kinalaman doon. They are the ones who will decide about their fate. Not me, not any one of us."

"Kahit na dahil sa pabor na hiningi mo kaya naiipit si Luna sa sitwasyon?" Tanong ko muli sa kanya.

"She has her own will. I just asked for that favor because I know Lance is interested in her and she will be his reason for him to change for the better. But she doesn't need to take responsibility for Lance. At lalong hindi niya kasalanan kung si Scarlett naman talaga ang mahal niya at hindi si Lance. What they need to do is the right thing, no matter how it will hurt a person."

Katulad niya ay napahiga na lamang ako sa may damuhan tsaka napabuntong-hininga. "Kakaiba ka talaga," bulong ko na lamang sa aking sarili.

"Eh, ikaw? May tao ka na bang nagugustuhan?" Tanong ni Xavier na may nakakalokong ngiti.

I smirked wryly with his question and Xavier, for an unknown reason, found it entertaining. Ang hirap kapag hindi busy ang isang 'to. Kapag na-bored kasi siya ay parang kami ang ginagawa niyang source of entertainment. Katulad na lamang ngayon. I can see a hint of bewilderment in his eyes.
