ALL CHARACTERS BELONG TO TANGLED THE SERIES AND DISNEY, COVER ART DOES NOT BELONG TO ME
Dripping of water, scraping of metal, other prisoners chatting away, and a chitter of a raccoon, those were the only sounds varian heard for months, maybe a year? The alchemist had lost count around the end of the 6th month. Varian sat on the stone platform the guards called a bed, Ruddiger sat besides him while varian stroked his soft fur. It was deep into the night yet varian showed no signs of sleep. He slept as little as he could and when he did, he fell into a horrible nightmare. Always the same thing too, him in his lab at his desk when he suddenly hears a scream coming from his father. The boy turns to see his father halfway incased in amber and he repeats to his son "why son, why did you kill me?" Over and over until a familiar voice calls to him from behind "varian! How could you do this?!" When varian turns he is met with rapunzel standing over the lifeless bodies of her mother and Cassandra. "No i didn't mean to- I'm" Varian would always start when rapunzel cuts him off "you wanted me to pay for what? For you causing the death of your father? For choosing the lives of my subjects over your mistake?" That's when varian would wake up, in his cell with only his loyal raccoon for comfort. Varian hated the dream but he knew he deserved it. He killed his father then blamed rapunzel. He had hurt her and everyone else in his life, and now he was paying the price. Varian sat still, thinking of the dream, thinking of everything he had done. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't get it out of his head. Well not until the explosions started.
