(TW: BLOOD)

The two boys watched as Rapunzel and Cassandra made their way down the hall to the throne room. As soon as they rounded the corner the boys took off. They needed to make it behind the Saporians before they realized that lance and shorty were merely a distraction to their real plan. They went from hall to hall making their way to the front of the castle and just before they reached the front doors of the castle varian stopped short. "Kid, you coming?" Eugene said turning the handle slightly. "I just- i don't know- i don't know if i can do this..." Varian looked down frozen in his place. 'I'm not dying enough, I'll mess it all up, what if i get Eugene killed' fears filled his head, swarming the broken boys mind while the elder of the two let go of the door and made his way over to his friend. "Varian" the alchemist looked up and met Eugene's eye sight. "Your stronger than you give yourself credit for." Eugene placed his hand on varian's shoulder. "Yea im so strong i blamed all my friends for my stupid mistake and killed my father." Varian's breath hitched at the last 3 words. Tears started forming in his eyes before he could stop them. "Ok. Yea you've made some... bad mistakes, but that's in the past. You've grown so much since then. You saved us from the Saporians, you've been helping people survive under their rule and now your going to help me take down these bastards!" Eugenes words hit varian like a truck. Slamming him back into reality. "So you ready to beat some assholes into the ground?" Varian gripped his alchemy belt and looked at Eugene. And for the first time in a year, Eugene saw a shimmer of hope coming from varian's eyes. "Ready as I'll ever be!" And with that, the boys ran into the royal square screaming louder than they ever had before.

The battle was half way over, majority of the Saporians were down and wounded with only left varian and Eugene against andrew and one of his minions, a large man with a curly mustache who wouldn't stop talking about abuse against animals. The larger man charged varian and before he could even get within 3 feet of the boy varian threw an alchemy bomb down underneath his feet and excelled into the air over the mans head. "What! How!?" The man could only utter the two words before another ball was thrown in his face covering his eyes with pink goo blinding him. Varian landed delicately next to him while the man ran screaming while pulling at the substance. Varian couldn't hold in his laughter while Eugene was crying laughing. "ENOUGH!" Both boys stopped laughing at the voice. Andrew stood feet away from Eugene with a look of hate on his face. "You two are going to pay for testing me. FOR TESTING THE WILL OF SAPORIA!" He screamed running at Eugene who drew his sword. The two began to battle while varian tried to help where he could but wasn't sure how to hit andrew without injuring Eugene. The two tumbled to the ground and rolled with Eugene landing on top. A cry came from andrew as Eugene stood up and held him down with his foot. "Give up andrew. Look around. You've lost." Eugene said with a harsh glare at the man who was wiping blood from his mouth. Varian couldn't stop a smile from growing onto his face 'I'm friends with such a badass'. "Ok ok, i give. You've beaten me." Andrew looked at the ground lifting his hands in surrender. "Great. Now let's get this guy locked up." Eugene lifted his foot off of Andrews chest and looked over at varian who made his way over to the pair. "And Eugene..." Eugene and varian stopped and looked down at andrew who now had one of his hands at his belt. "I may have lost but so have you." He quickly grabbed a wand from his belt and lifted it to point at Eugenes head. Eugene froze with wide eyes, he saw the lightning bolt leave the wand and come directly towards him and he heard the scream coming from varian. But one thing he didn't expect was to feel a small body pushing against him and moving him out of the way. When Eugene hit the ground he snapped out of his daze. He looked up to see the lighting bolt clash against the right side of varian's face and saw him fly across the room with a small scream of pain. Eugene screamed before the boy hit the ground and took off running. The alchemist had gone limp the second he touched the ground, blood pooling around his head. Eugene was on him within a second screaming for him to wake up.
