I finally landed in New York after what felt like forever. I got off the plane, and got an Uber to drive me to Headquarters. I could feel the nerves building up in me, not wanting to mess up, for Wanda, for Pietro.
I arrived at the place, and I paid for Uber and got into the building. My nerves calm down, being in the similar place that I have been used to for a while. I walk in, seeing Rhodey doing physical therapy. "Hey, how was Scotland?" Rhodey asks.
"Good, very pretty there," I say. "But it's good to be back. Did you see Ross drop off a file for me?"
"Yea, it should be on the kitchen counter," Rhodey says. I thank him, and walk to the kitchen, finding the file sitting there. I grab it, and flip through the file. It basically says to watch over Vision, and see if I can find out what's wrong with him. This is going to be a boring assignment.
I go to my room, and set down my bag of clothes, and flop on the bed I miss. I sigh, and go to sleep, since it was so late, and it's the best sleep I had this week, since it was in a place I remember.
The next day I wake up, feeling refreshed. I put on some jeans and a t-shirt, and made my way to start my assignment. I walk to the main room, finding Vision sitting on the couch. "Hey V," I say.
"Hi. Ready to figure out what's wrong with me?" Vision asks, and I nod.
"I thought we already knew what was wrong. You know, you and Wanda," I say, with a smirk.
"Well, there must be something else wrong. I'm supposed to be a machine," Vision says.
"Not fully a machine," I say, and then an idea pops into my head. "You also have something out of this world apart of you. Thor says that that stone in your head was the mind stone. Maybe, it's actually giving you the ability to feel."
"How do we know that? The only 'out of this world' expertise we know is Thor, and we have no way to contact him right now. I have no idea what this stone is capable of, so I don't think we will be able to fix this," Vision says.
"Who says we should fix this? You are becoming more human-like," I say.
"Ross says that he wants you to see if you can fix it," Vision says, and then I get confused.
"Why would I have to fix it? My specialty is being a spy and field work, not fixing robots. I may be a hacker, but I'm not a miracle worker," I say, getting a little annoyed, and Vision doesn't say anything.
"Vision, why am I actually here?" I ask. "Anyone could have worked on you, even Tony who is a genius, no matter how much I hate saying it."
"Ross wanted to know why you were in Scotland, and not here," Vision says. "He thinks you are hiding something that could be important."
"What would I be hiding? I went to Scotland, simply because I have never been there before, why is that so hard to believe," I lie.
"He just wants to make sure. After Natasha, he doesn't trust anyone, even his best agents. Plus your job is lying, so he is on the edge about you," Vision says.
"So you think I'm hiding something?" I ask.
"Well, I don't know yet, but you haven't shown me signs that you are," Vision says, and I smirk that a machine doesn't know I'm lying.
"Okay, well, I'll call Ross, tell him I'm going back to Scotland," I say, walking away, but stop when I hear Vision.
"If you leave, he will just get more curious," Vision says.
"And if I don't, he will think I'm stupid because I didn't figure out his game. My job is to figure this stuff out, I wouldn't be doing my job right," I say, and walk away. I go to my old room, and get my phone out to call Ross.
The phone rings, and he picks up. "Hey Romanoff, any updates on Vision," Ross says.
"Yea, I believe it's because of the stone in his head. It's one of the infinity stones, the mind stone. I believe that it's giving him human-like emotions and ways to think and learn," I say.
"That's great, now, can you fix it?" Ross says.
"I don't know why you expect me to. I am a spy, and a good one, but I'm not a technians. Vision who has the stone with him 24/7 for the past year doesn't even know how to use it, how would I?" I ask.
"Well, I thought Vision would like someone he was familiar with," Ross says.
"Well, I think it's best if I get back to Scotland. I'm not needed here anymore, correct?" I say.
"Yea, go to Scotland, you aren't needed here anymore," Ross says, but his voice sounds up to something.
"Okay, thanks, bye," I say, and hang up the phone. I'm going to need to keep an eye out, he is definitely on to me. I looked up on my phone plane flights to Scotland, but all were booked, and I want to get out of this place.
I walk out of my room, with my backpack, trying to find Tony, but he's nowhere in sight. So I walk to the kitchen, and take out my phone to call Tony. I put the phone on speaker while I get some food. "Hey little R, what's up?" Tony says.
"Hey, where are you right now?" I ask.
"I'm in queens, why?"
"I'm at headquarters, and I need a flight back to Scotland, but all planes are booked. I was wondering if you could use your rich magic, and let me use one of your private planes?" I say, and I heard Tony sigh.
"Sure, but you will need to find someone to fly it back," Tony says, and I smile.
"Thank you so much," I say. "Bye Tone, see you later." He says his good-bye, and I hang up the phone.
"I can fly you," Vision says, and I jump, not realizing he was there. "I know how to, plus, you don't want to be stuck with someone you don't know."
"I don't know, how do I know you are just not spying on me?" I ask.
"It's just a plane flight, I don't think it will be that bad," Vision says, and I nod my head.
"Thanks," I say. "Well, let's go."
