I have been staying at headquarters for a couple days now, and I haven't been able to call Pietro or Wanda since of all the work I have been doing. Ross has been up my ass about these alien weapons, and he's trying to track down different locations for me to look at and investigate.
I have been driving around and looking at places all over the state, and nothing has shown up, and to him it's all my fault. I didn't get home until 2 am last night since he sent me so far away from headquarters.
I was currently asleep, or I was until I heard my phone ring. I groan, roll over and grab my phone off the nightstand. I checked that it was 8 in the morning, and that Ross was calling once again. I answer the phone, saying in a raspy voice, "Hello and why are you calling me this early?"
"Nice to talk to you too," Ross says in a sarcastic tone. "Did you find anything at the parking lot?"
"No, and if I did, I would have called, or at least do something about," I say, rolling my eyes. "Maybe we should wait for his next move, and play off of that."
"We need to get them now, so I actually have 3 more sights for you to-"
"With all due respect, I don't think that's a good idea. You already sent me to 8 places, and there was nothing there. You will just waste your time. I think we should wait for it's next move, we won't be wasting resources, and gas money on my hand," I mutter in the last part, remembering how much money I wasted.
"Fine, we'll wait. But once you're needed, you better be here," Ross says.
"It's not like I have anyone to go back to," I say, knowing that's not true. "Bye Ross." I hung up the phone, and swore under my breath, knowing I'm not going to be able to fall back asleep.
I got up, and decided to work out in the gym. I put on some shorts, and a muscle shirt. I grab my sneakers, putting them on, and head to the kitchen to get water. Once I grab them, I head to the gym in the basement.
I put my stuff down, and walk to the speakers to connect my phone to them. I play some up beat music loudly, since it helps me get in the mood, and makes me feel like I'm in a movie. Plus, when I'm working out or fighting someone, that's when I get out my anger, the music seems to drown out my grunts and moves.
I grab some hand wraps, and wrap my hands while making my way to the punching bag. I smile, remembering the first time training Pietro, and how he wasn't paying attention when I helped him wrap his hands. I think it took him around a month to finally get it down.
I now pay attention, and start to get into the mentality to start. I begin my rhythm, punching the bag harder and harder, letting my anger come into use. I think of all the times I felt weak, angry, or annoyed at anyone.
When I got shot and almost died, Agent Laco underestimated me and ended up being correct about not completing a mission. Not being able to choose when I see Pietro, or not knowing when I'll have to leave. Natasha leaving, and I have no idea where she is. Everything with Hunter and what he has done to Pietro.
I used all my strength, punching the bag so hard. I broke out of my zone when I felt a hand touch my shoulder. I grabbed the hand and twisted it, putting it behind the person's back. "Hey, yo, y/n, it 's me. Chill," I hear a familiar voice say.
I quickly realized it was Tony and let go of his arm. I hit him in the back of the head and say, "are you stupid? I was so close to killing you. I was in the zone."
"I can tell," Tony says, pointing to my hands. I look at the old white wrap, now turned red from blood. I have never been that focused, or hit that hard that I didn't even notice. "Come with me," he says, and leads me to the kitchen. He starts to unwrap my hands at the sink, and he rinses it off. I hiss at the pain, and he mumbles a sorry.
"Remind me again to never interrupt you when you're in the 'zone'," he says, and I chuckle lightly. Once he is done, I grab a rag, and dab my hands lightly. "Any updates on the weapons."
"Nope, a dead end. Don't need to remind me after Ross keeps reminding me," I say. "I just want to get back to Scotland."
"How's you-know-who's?" Tony asks, in more of a hushed voice.
"Good, safe. No one knows about them, so that's all that's important," I say. "What are you doing for the rest of the day? Looks like I have the rest of the day off."
"Nothing. I'm waiting for Happy to get here with the rest of the stuff from the tower, but that shouldn't be until late at night," Tony says.
"Why not during the day? Won't it be easier to do it when it's light out?" I ask.
"You think I'm actually going to do the work?" Tony says, laughing. "That's funny, really funny. Me doing actual labor?"
"You could probably use your suits for that, and you wouldn't even have to waste money on people," I say, sarcastically.
"That's so smart. I'm so doing that next time," Tony says, and walks away.
"Idiot," I mumble under my breath. How is that man a genius? I go back to my room, and take a shower, being careful not to get any soap in my fresh new cuts. I decided to take a nap afterwards, so I can help Happy once he gets here.
