in which miles and kyle had a falling out

six months.

miles hadn't seen kyle in six months.

that didn't feel right.

he and kyle were as close as brothers for 3 years. (even though miles has wanted to be more ever since kyle wore those tight jeans at a concert once but we won't talk about that)

miles could remember the exact moment they stopped talking. how could he forget? it was burned into his memory.

//flashback//

*miles winced as he checked the time on his phone. he was two hours late for bros night with kyle. he promised he'd be on time. they hadn't seen each other much since miles was working on an album. but he promised kyle he'd be there tonight.

he promised.

"dude, what the hell? you're like 2 hours late. where were you?"

he flinched as he heard the upset voice of he best friend.

"kyle, man, i'm sorry. i was in the studio and i lost track of time."

"that's the third time this week!"

"i know! i said sorry, nigga, what you want me to do?"

"act like you care! act like we're still friends!"

"well maybe ion wanna be friends with a washed up ugly ass nigga like you!"

miles felt his mouth snap shut as he immediately regretted the words. it was like he didn't even have control over his mouth, like his brain tapped out and his lips took over.

"damn, miles. tell me how you really feel." kyle laughed emotionlessly. it was fake, both men could tell. at that moment, miles knew he fucked everything up.

"kyle, bro, i'm-"

"get out." his voice was cold, sharp. he wasn't playing around.

miles hung his head as he turned around and walked out. he wouldn't walk back into that house for six months, but neither man knew that.

//end of flashback//

miles winced as he was brought back to the present, and he found himself on the front step of kyle's house. he worked on autopilot as he brought his fist up to knock on the door.

miles waited a few seconds. in the meantime he realized he never told kyle he was coming over. how would the smaller man react? would he be angry, or sad, or maybe-

"what're you doing here?"

oh shit.

"hey, kyle."

kyle looked back at him with a confused loon shadowing his face. "hey."
