It's been two weekends after my dad's demise. Anita had been on my nerves about getting out of my closets. Two days ago, she texted me about visiting our favorite spot but I declined the offer. I just couldn't overcome my depression yet, I felt I need stay indoors and ruminate about how to get my family together and keep the unity.
I need comfort mom, encourage my siblings, keep my family's legacy. Being a first child definitely isn't as easy as I did thought. Or maybe I just truthfully need to easy my neurons and get some fresh air.
This isn't a regular Sunday in the house, mom still in sober widow hood, but siblings already going about in Sunday visiting. It's high time I join the train. It's just half past 7am, I reach out for my cell phone, and made a dial;
'Hi babe, aws d sky painted for a sabbath?'
'Very blessed blue, darling. But we sure can paint it an elated red.'
'K, 12pm, meeting place- your house, our favorite spot. Deal?'
'Sure deal, see yah!'
I laid down my cell phone on a table in my room. The table use to be my reading table, it was located near the window, and the window view can be amazingly thrilling many times. I, for that reason, loves to sit near it when ever I want to engage my ink.
I took a step towards the kitchen, I needed to make a coffee. For one reason, I never get comfortable using the kitchen, things are never where you would've expected. Sometimes it can be refolded into a beautiful refuse dump by my siblings, one very similar to this morning. I needed to check into all the nooks and crannies before getting my mug. It is my favorite mug, it was given me during my valedictory service after high school, almost ten years now, and somehow I have managed to keep it until now. I wouldn't love to have a coffee without it, it seems to be part of the ingredients.
'Oops!' I exclaimed as I almost hurt my tongue by sipping a very hot coffee. I was too in a hurry, that I didn't allow it cool, but now am forced to learn patience.
Afterwards I took a cool bath, and began getting dressed. It took me 45minutes to complete my makeover, but that seems like nothing compared to the time it took me to get a fitting apparel. There was a controversy in my head, on the one hand is the opinion to look very attractive after a long period of lockup and on the other, is the opinion to look simple at least to give the impression that am still in a sober mood. After a long period of contemplating, I settled for something I felt would be the perfect timing clothing. Some minutes later I was already in the living room about to set out. Then I heard a call of my name, it was my mom.
'Yes Mom!' I responded as I move towards her room.
I wouldn't know why she would want to see my face now, I only hoped it's not related to my outing. I had told one of the chauffeur to get a car ready for me, and the keys had been in her care, I guess she must have gotten to know about my setting out and I hope she's not willing to cause a delay.
I made a knock on the door and was met by the response: 'The door is open, you can make your way in.'
She was dressed in an ash coloured silk gown, with a black hood. She laid on her bed not really smiling, but not as gloomy as other days.
'I heard you are going out,' she said as if asking question.
'Yes ma,' I answered as I move towards her bed and made a sit for my self.
'It's okay, please make sure you get back sooner, we have a discussion,' she said briefly as if sending me off.
'Alright mom, bye for now,' I responded as I immediately made a turn and head for the door.
'Please, drive safe too,' she added.
'Yes mom,' I replied almost in the living room.
I picked up my car keys and headed towards Anita's abode.
'Pim! pim!' was a car hoot at her house gate. I was 4minutes late and I hope I hadn't infuriated her.
She rushed out with her shoes in her hands, she can be silly sometimes.
'Sweetie, how you?'
'Fine Nitty,' I replied as I switched on the car engine and started the journey. 'How has the week been,' I asked.
'Fine, I see your mood is quite lighter.
'Yeah it is, thanks. How's your man?'
'He's fine, and yours?'
'What do you mean?'
'If you meant who do I mean, then Samuel of course.'
'I never told you Samuel is my man, and what the hell is wrong with you, why the conclusion?' I said almost leaving the steering.
'Fine, fine, please mind the car if we would ever get a chance to conclude this conversation let alone arrive at our destination.'
'Ok!'
'But realistically, you well know this guy is interested in you, and his so cute. And he is not a 'Rich kid'. Then why aren't you giving him a chance?'
'Well, I know but I just needed to be sure am in the right direction. So no need to rush, if he is the right one, he'll surely wait.'
'Don't tell me you don't really like or love this guy,' she said teasingly.
'C'mon, let's just talk about something else, how's work going?' I said trying to change the conversation.
'mmm, work is fine, just that am not too cool with my new boss. Oh, did I tell you our company now has a new C.E.O.?'
'No you never mentioned that.'
'Sorry, that must have skipped my mind and credit the fact that it happened just last week and you weren't in a good frame of mind during those times.'
'Ok, so gist me about it.'
'Well, last week Monday, the chairman called an emergency meeting with all the senior staff of the company. He mentioned that he wants to retire, and he is assigning his son who formerly was the project manager, as the new C.E.O. of the company. Since then, his son has become kinda pompous, you know those Rich kids now.'
'Yeah, you are right well maybe they think, once they are boss, then they are deputy God,' I said joking as we both bust into a short laughter session.
'Let's I forget, when are you resuming to office, I mean your dad's, or are you still going back to BridgSam?'
'No, not again, I already sent my resignation, maybe Samuel became aware, he has been calling me too frequently afterwards. And for dads company, that would be tomorrow.'
'Wow! No way, If I hadn't asked, you would never have told me,' she said excitedly.
'No I will, after all, we have all day.'
'Okay, so how do you intend appear tomorrow?'
'Well I guess I'd better leave tomorrow til tomorrow.'
