Grandeur was the reception this early Monday morning, when all the senior staff and principal stakeholders at the BridgSam Ltd. took there sit in the company's conference room. Only a handful understood why there would be a need for an emergency meeting this early morning. As previous week ran out, I had a conversation with the managing director over a very important matter.
(Roll back in time)
It all started after Joanne's dad demise. 11:30pm on Friday I put a call through to Mr Michael the managing director of the company.
'Hello Mr Michael, if you would have a few minutes, I love to have a conversation with you.'
The receiver on the other end, gave consent. Then I headed for his office, accompanied by a knock on the door.
'Please come in,' was the response from the inside.
I made my way towards the cushions placed directly opposite to the manager.
'Good day Mr Michael,' I showed courtesy.
'Good day Sir.'
'How has it been, I mean managing 70% of the company's affair even when the rightful owner decided to to play pretense.'
'Not to difficult, you know how it happens here better.'
'You may be correct, but it seems the circumstances had changed, as I need to follow the wind.'
'What do you mean, please?'
'Well since Joanne's has decided to go manage her father's company, I thought it's best I step up to my responsibilities.'
'Well that isn't going to pose a problem, all that is necessary is to inform the company's shareholders and I'll immediately summon the staff to a meeting.'
'Thanks Mr Michael'
'But how about her, has she "click",' he asked teasingly.
"C'mon Mr Michael, you are a "crook", it's almost done and I guess I did won her heart.'
'Well done Sir,' he said gesticulating a salute with his right hands.
(Present)
I made an entry into the company in my G-Class wagon. Many of the staff who saw me at a distance where surprised. For many I just got a new car and would want to meet me and felicitate with me, but that would be later since they had an emergency meeting to attend. It seems rumor has been going around the company about a new C.E.O., but rumor it remains until announced.
Bridget my kid sister also was present at the meeting. Although she recently arrived from Paris, she honoured my invitation to be present at the meeting. Moreover she is also a stakeholder in the company, although she never showed interest in the company affairs. For a fact, she had been so engrossed with her medical profession, and was having a mindset of building a hospital on arrival.
Immediately I set into the room, the manager of the company signalled to everyone that meeting was about to commence. Some wondered why it was after my arrival that the meeting commenced.
'It has been a long time since the passing away of the chairman of the company,' he started as everyone in the hall nodded in agreement.
'Before his demise, he had arrangements for who will be his successor. And after the meeting with the shareholders in the company, he has agreed to take the responsibilities on his shoulder.
I will be pleased to inform you that, Mr Samuel Johnson, first and only son of Chief G.K. Johnson will now be assuming the sit of chairman and C.E.O. of this company.
All gave an applause as I move from the back seat towards the chairman seat. There was a great murmuring in the room. I had to wait for many seconds before the noise subside. I could only give a brief word of appreciation to Mr Michael and a few words of recommendation to all the staff before dismissing them. Even after there departure, many still wondered if all that happened was true. It wasn't until now that many began analyzing the name of the company: Bridget and Samuel, names of the two children of Chief G.K. Johnson. On the other hand, my thoughts was how I will relate the situation to Joanne. I picked up my phone and send a text.Unlike past week, today tends to be a little bit busy, as I get set this early morning in a sparkling silver suit and a pair of black shoes. It took me over 2hours before I could get the perfect taste of makeover I desired. I had to go become more responsible today, and it may not be the same as when I worked with BridgSam. I remembered some of Mom's word yesterday night. After having a nice time with Anita, I came home only two received a long hour lecture from Mom. Truthfully, I hardly could concentrate during the conversation, because I was very tired, but I could still take some of her words to heart.
Some of her advice were, '... Remember your father's legacy... He trusts that you will manage his future well... He is always with you...'
How could I forget such words from Dad's letter. I stepped out of the living room to the balcony, and beacon on the chauffeur to get the car ready, I was to ride in a 2020 version of Range Rover. He is a very skilled driver, it took him just a few minutes to arrive at the company's gate. I began to marvel at the elegant structure before me. B.J. is one of the biggest company on the mainland. I made an entry in the the company's conference hall, where virtually all the heads of department, senior staff and stakeholders of the company were, waiting for my arrival.
On arrival the company's Public Relation manager, Mr Bams, stood up and welcomed me onto my sit. After which he introduced me as the new C.E.O. of the company. There was a resounding applause in the hall. He also requested that everyone began introducing themselves with their position in the company.
I then stood up to address the staffs;
'Dear diligent staffs of B.J. & co., it is my greatest delight to be before you this morning in place of my father Mr S. Thomas, who had laid the foundation of this great company. I will be following the steps her took, I will be pleased to work all, if we continue to do as we always did when my dad was here and even more. Thank you.'
Another sounds of applause went into the air as Mr Bams rounded up the meeting and dismissed everyone. I had to have a thorough tour around the company before finally settling down in my office. Just then I noticed a text on my cellphone.
'Hi dear, if you want, dinner tomorrow, your spot,' was the text from Samuel.
I immediately replied to the text.
'Deal!'
I laid down the phone and began attending to some files on my table.
