Maple

I sit in physical science, uncomfortable. I had just introduced myself, and of course I was stuttering the entire time. I was then sat down next to a guy named Kyle.

Kyle seemed very chill with anyone and anything. He had white fur with grey stripes all over. His eyes were a dull orange or amber, it was hard to describe. He had long-ish brown hair. The top part of his hair was put up into a bun while the rest of it hung loosely around his shoulders. His eyes were framed bu dark bags under his eyes. Yeesh. This guy looked like he needed some sleep! Anyway, he was wearing a baggy, grey sweatshirt and a pair of loose jeans. He just looked like a relaxed guy.

Today, we are supposed to just get to know each other. Kyle and I sat there in silence. I am quiet because I am uncomfortable. I don't know why he is quiet.

"Soooo..." Kyle said, dragging out the 'o'. His voice was deep, smooth, and rich. It reminded me of what it's like to eat dark chocolate. "Why'd you move here, bro?"

I was shocked. Did he just call me bro? Wait. He asked me why I moved here. I can't tell him! "I-I... well... I-" What do I say? I can't tell him the truth of me moving here because I was bullied at my last school for being transgender!

"Hey. Bro, it's chill if you don't wanna tell me." He said, his voice was slow, as if he was trying to tame a wild animal. "You just gotta tell me that, dude."

I nodded. "Y-yeah. Okay, I just- I'm j-just not comfortable t-telling you that." I whispered.

Kyle nodded his head. "That's chill bro. Anyway, do you have any friends here yet?"

I blush from embarrassment. "N-no. I mean, other t-than my twin sister, I-I don't really know anyb-body." I manage to squeak out, my eyes finding their way to the floor.

"Oof. Say, what is your lunch period dude?"

Does he only call people dude and bro? Also, did he just say oof? What the hell does oof mean? "Umm... it's 4c?"

He nods. "We have lunch together then. Wanna eat with me and my friends? Since, ya know, you don't have any friends yet? That sound good bro?"

I stare at him confused.

He just met me and wants me to be his friend? Why?

"I-I mean, s-sure. If you and y-your friends are okay w-with it..."

He laughs. It was deep and throaty. "They wouldn't care my dude. My friends are pretty chill."

I shrug. "O-okay then..."

Just then, the bell rings, releasing us to our 4 b class.
