(Aviva's view)
That evening after dinner there was a knock at the door, I quickly washed my dish and opened the door to find Raven standing in the doorway with a smile on his face.
"Hey Viva, ready to do some sleuthing?" he asked, as he took my hand.
"Of course I am, aren't you?" I asked, as I tapped the gun at my hip.
"You bet I am, I'm ready to find out why my best friend is sleeping poorly." he said, as he smiled at me.
"Well then, what are we still doing here?" he asked, as we turned and bid goodbye to father before leaving the house and disappearing into the darkness of the evening.
"Where do you want to look first?" Raven asked, and I thought a moment before looking at him.
"How about we start with the forest at the edge of town?" I said, and he nodded. "Sounds good to me." he said, as we continued to walk along the soft dirt road.
'Why are you out alone with your friend in the dark?' the voice in my head asked, and I rolled my eyes.
'To find a way to be rid of you, now shut up.' I replied mentally as we continued walking away from town.
"So, what do you want to do after we find some clues?" Raven asked, as we continued along the path.
"I think we should plan on doing some more sleuthing." I said, and he laughed.
"Yes, I love mysteries." he said, as he grinned at me with a twinkle in his eye.
"Me too, that's why--" I began, then suddenly went quiet as the sound of footsteps drew near. I quickly crawled into the bushes with Raven and lay completely still as the footsteps approached our hiding place.
"You can come out, I won't hurt you." the voice said, and we cautiously stood up to find a young man who looked to be about twenty years old smiling at us.
"How do we know we can trust you?" Raven asked, as he looked the newcomer in the eye.
"Because I can help you find what you seek." he said, as Raven and I shared a look. "What's your name?" I asked, as I raised an eyebrow. "My name is Kaname Kuran." he said, as he looked at us. "Okay Kanamae, why should we let you help us?" I asked, as I looked him in the eye.
"Because , I--" Kanamae began, then went silent as soon as our eyes locked. "What's the matter? kitty got your tongue?" I asked, and he shook his head. "It's nothing, now the reason I offered to help you is because I have a few lost memories of my own." he said, as he cast a quick smile at me.
