Chapter Twenty

The next morning I woke up cuddled up to Michael who was fast asleep looking like a cuddle kitten; I slowly got up seeing that I was still in my pj’s remembering we only made out last night. I opened the door shutting it behind me running downstairs into the kitchen seeing everyone awake sitting at the table.

“Morning sweetheart” Dad said smiling

“Morning” I said

“Where’s Michael”? Matthew asked

“He’s still asleep we had a late night last night” I said taking a seat smiling at myself

“What do you mean late night”? Dad said annoyed; I looked up at him while my food was being placed in front of me.

“Well after I got home yesterday Michael planned a date for the both of us and he recreated one of my favourite dates we had in college” I said

“Well what happen with Zac, I thought you would be happy to see Zac again”

“Dad I’m married to Michael not to Zac and I did see Zac yesterday but being with Michael I don’t know he makes me happy and safe” I said smiling at myself; I noticed dad getting up walking into the living room and coming back out with a envelop handing it to me. “What’s this”? I asked

“Well I was going to leave it until later but I think you should look at it now” he said smiling while I opened it; I saw the letter and a name of a university saying I was accepted.

“Uh dad”? I said looking up at him confused why I have this letter.

“Well I remember before you left you wanted to be a lawyer but something came in the way and you didn’t get to go to university so I talked to the highest university here and they are letting you back in, isn’t that great” he said smiling

“Here we go again” Matthew said leaning back in his chair

“Dad I don’t know if I want to go; can I have some time to think about it” I said putting the letter down. Dad didn’t seem happy that I wanted to think about it.

“Haley can you follow me” he said getting up walking out the kitchen; I got up following him out of the kitchen into his office.

“What’s going on dad”? I asked shutting the door behind me

“So I wasn’t going to tell you this but I thought you should find out since Michael wasn’t going to tell you” he said; I took a seat wondering what was going on.

“Dad seriously just tell me because at the moment I’m afraid you’re going to tell me I’m not married to Michael”

“No, No I’m not that harsh but when you were in the hospital the nurse told us that something happened to you besides losing your memory” he said

“Alright what was that”? I asked

“Honey you were a month pregnant and you ended up losing the baby; I wanted to tell you but Michael wouldn’t let me honey he wanted to keep it a secret” Dad said; I was pregnant and I ended up killing it and Michael wouldn’t tell me what happened to that rule in marriage where they don’t keep secrets. I got up straight away walking upstairs walking into my room to see Michael wasn’t there I walked into his room seeing him getting dressed only in skinny jeans and finding a shirt. He turned around smiling

“Good morning” he said kindly but I wasn’t happy with him

“Michael is it true that I was pregnant before the car incident” I said crossing my arms; his face soften and said.

“Where did you hear that”?

“Oh my gosh it is true, Michael why didn’t you tell me”

“Because it was probably too much to take in for you and I didn’t know how to tell you Haley; trust me it crushed me too finding it out”

“I don’t get how you could tell my father but you couldn’t tell me and were married”! I started to raise my voice.

“What I never told your dad; I don’t know how your dad found out but can’t you see that his trying everything to get me out of your life and bring Zac back in” he said yelling back at me

“Don’t you start blaming my father Michael and don’t bring Zac into this either” I said pointing a finger up backing away from him “Right now I just need alone time because I can’t handle this right now”

“Haley please” Michael said walking towards me but I backed away. “Haley” Michael said in pain.

“Michael I think it’s just best we don’t cross each other’s past today because I don’t know if I can trust you even if you are my husband and I just need to process the news” I said walking out of his room. Tears running down my face while walking into my room to process everything that my dad told me. I saw my phone ringing seeing Zac was calling me and decided to answer it.

“Hello” I said snuffling

“Hey are you okay”? He asked

“Yeah just got into a fight with Michael not a big deal” I said wrapping one arm around my belly thinking about the baby I lost. “Zac do you think we could hang out today, I could really use a friend right now” I said

“Of course I’ll be over in five” he said
