"So, where were you last night?" Bonnie asked, nibbling on a piece of toast. It was breakfast time, and owls were swooping in left and right delivering letters and packages. I knew there was no way Remus had gotten my letter and sent my broom back, so I didn't even bother looking up in anticipation.
"Quidditch tryouts." I said with a confused face.
Bonnie sighed, taking a sip of orange juice from her goblet. "I know that. I meant after. Blaise told me that you were going to send a letter, but you were gone for almost an hour." She said accusingly.
No one knew that I had been with Draco the night before. He had sworn me to secrecy. Not that it was very hard to keep secret. I knew that if people found out that Draco and I had been together, there would inevitably be questions. I didn't want to be on spot, but mostly, I didn't want to be found out by Blaise. Not that Draco and I had done anything wrong, Merlin forbid. Just that we had been together, by ourselves in secret. It didn't exactly paint me in the most innocent light, and now that Blaise and I were together, I decided to keep that evening completely to myself.
"Honestly Bon...I was feeling homesick. I missed my godfather, and I just wanted to be alone. I didn't think people would notice." I said, shrugging. Just as Bonnie was about to reply, Ginny came bounding up to the table. She took no notice at the look of disdain from the few other Slytherins who were eating breakfast next us.
"You. Are. Going. Down." Ginny said, her teeth clinched together. Just as my eyes got wide and I began to ask her what I had done wrong, she threw herself down on the bench and laughed out loud.
"Ginny...what in the world-?" I asked, looking at her as if she was mad. She looked a little mad, truthfully. Bonnie had to press the back of her hand against her mouth to keep from giggling.
"Heard you're the new Chaser for Slytherin. I'm genuinely surprised, as Slytherin hasn't had a girl on the team in forever." she said, and I smiled bashfully. Her eyes glinted again, and she smiled in a wicked way.
"However...you just so happen to be looking at Gryffindor's Chaser. So, Lizzie. Sunday through Friday, we are friends. Whenever Gryffindor and Slytherin play against each other next month...we are enemies." She said, and I couldn't help but laugh with her. I knew that she was totally joking, but the thought of being competitive and competing against my best friend did sound like fun.
"You are on, Weasley." I said, pushing her shoulder mockingly. She laughed and made eye contact with Harry, who had walked up behind her.
"Hey, Lizzie. Just wanted to congratulate you on making chaser. Ginny's told us all about it." He said, and I noticed Ginny's cheeks flush crimson.
"Thanks, Harry! You're still Seeker for Gryffindor, right?" I asked, and he nodded.
"And captain, too!" Ginny said, beaming.
"Well, good luck!" Harry said, and he and Ginny retreated back to the Gryffindor table.
Bonnie snorted in disgust and I looked at her in shock.
"Potter? You cannot seriously be friends with Harry Potter!" She said in shock. I was taken aback. What had Harry done so wrong? He hardly talked to anyone outside of his inner circle. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if that was the first time Bonnie had heard his voice at all.
"He's quite nice, Bon." I mumbled, and she laughed a deep belly laugh.
"He's so full of himself, Lizzie. Honestly! I leave you alone for 5 seconds and you're chummy with Potter! I let it slide with Ginny, because she's actually wickedly cool. However, we have got to work out your priorities. Especially if you're Blaise Zabini's girlfriend. I mean, I think Blaise would pick his teeth with Potter if he could." Bonnie said. I looked down in shock and mumbled "Oh." I hadn't realized how much animosity people carried around against Harry. He was famous all over the wizarding world, even at Ilvermorny. We all knew "The Boy Who Lived". Slytherin seemed to hold a certain grudge against Harry, and I truly believed it was because of the ties to You Know Who this house had.
