For clarity, you do not need to use all the writing tips that you read. Make sure you feel comfortable with what you are writing. If they suggest writing one way, you do not have to if you do not want to.
This chapter has to do with tenses, so I will give some examples for you.
Present:
I get up and go into the living room to see my mom and dad asleep on the couch. Tiptoeing across the floor, I trip and fall on my face.
Past:
I got up and went into the living room to see my mom and dad asleep on the couch. Tiptoeing across the floor, I tripped and fell on my face.
Third Person Present-
She gets up and goes into the living room to see her mom and dad asleep on the couch. Tiptoeing across the floor, she trips and falls on her face.
Third Person Past-
She got up and went into the living room to see her mom and dad asleep on the couch. Tiptoeing across the floor, she tripped and fell on her face.
I don't know how to write in future. I think it's I would.
I would get up and go into the living room to see my mom and dad asleep on the couch. Tiptoeing across the floor, I would then trip and fall on my face.
I don't know, so don't quote me on it.
When you are writing, stick to one tense, it can confuse the reader if you are constantly switching tenses. It was something I struggled with from grade 7 to grade 10, but then I finally got it, so if you are struggling with it, just practice. Also reread what you have written and you will start to catch on to your mistakes.
