"I see that you're still a cocky little chatterbox, hmm?"

His voice was low, raspy, and to Tails, chilling, his hands behind his back neatly as he gracefully made his way over to his two, unfortunate captives. Scratch and Grounder stood as straight as tentpoles, giving him a solute with a serious expression.

Pathetic. They were always sucking up to him, always trying to get his respect. That was never going to happen. Why didn't they get it? He tells them time and time again that they weren't ever going to get anywhere with that goal.

Sonic bared his teeth in a growl while Tails cowered behind him, as per usual. It was a threatening image- perhaps to a normal person- but Robotnik found it hilarious. Why? Here sat his most hated enemy, along with his wimpy sidekick- he never knew why the hedgehog was still keeping that freak around, he couldn't do anything for himself and probably slowed Sonic down- an enemy who had embarrassed him and destroyed his priceless inventions one time too many...and...here he was, growling at him like he actually posed a threat. Like he could actually fight back. Well, guess what? He wasn't any of the sorts in this situation, not at all. He and that little brat had no chances of getting away, and they'd get concussions if they tried. If anything, they should be worried. He was calling all of the shots. Anything he wanted to do to get those emeralds, he could do it with just a snap of his fingers. Any revenge ideas he had in mind, he could do it, and there was nothing that these two could do to stop him. But even with how confident get was with himself, he still made sure to make backup plans. If these two managed to escape by some miracle, there's no way they would make it out alive.

He had...things arranged in the hallways and exits.

He had him. He had him for good. For the first time, he captured that hedgehog, and he wasn't going to fail.

And that made him happier than any holiday ever could.

"And I see that you haven't eased up on the binge eating, what's your point?" Sonic clapped back with a cocked brow, Tails giving a small whine in fear and disapproval.

"Immature..." the egg-shaped villain stared down at the hedgehog with hatred before noticing the small, red welt on his neck. Scratch had done his job, then? That was a first. Sonic childishly stuck his tongue out in hopes of raising his temper.

Not today.

"Let's get down to the base of things, yeah?" Sonic asked, pulling down his gloves and letting them snap back. "What do you want from us, Robotnik?"

"Oh...oh, you naive fool," Robotnik showed a faint smile and chuckled. "So many things...oh so many things, it would make your little head explode. But...that's okay. I have all the time in the world to get every single thing off of my list..."

"Yeah? Name one, enlighten me."

"Like...the whereabouts of the Chaos Emeralds. The time stones...I don't care how long it'll take me, I don't know how troublesome it will be...but one way or another, I will get an answer out of you, hedgehog."

"Heh...think again, Robotnik!"

Sonic quickly grabbed Tails' wrist before spinning into a ball, rushing forwards with a spin dash. Robotnik's smile got maliciously wider at the result that he knew was coming.

BANG

The hedgehog collided harshly into the glass dome, a slight reverberation sounding from the impact. Sonic grasped his head as he stumbled in place, his teeth clenched as he tried to ride out the pain. His headache from earlier returned at full force.

"Sonic!" Tails shrieked, grabbing his brother's arm to keep him steady. "Sonic, a-are you alright?!"

Sonic waited a few moments for the pain to subside, along with the weird, fuzzy feeling that came with it. "Y-yeah...yeah, I'm alright, pal," he assured with a nod, rubbing his temple with a gloved hand. "J-just give me a minute, yeah?"

Robotnik bellowed out a hearty laugh, holding his gut and almost in tears. Yes, oh yes. He figured that Sonic would try to escape, but he didn't think he would try it so soon. That single moment just brightened his entire day. He could tell that he was going to have a blast.

And as for Sonic, reality hit him faster than a brick. For the first time- and he couldn't believe that he was even thinking of such a thing- Robotnik had upped his game. That glass was as though as nails, and he still felt disoriented and woozy even seconds later. If the glass could be broken with a couple of hits- which didn't seem likely at all- then he'd risk himself getting a concussion, maybe worse. If a spin attack wouldn't work, then...that meant that none of his moves would work...

They were trapped.
