"Hey, my name's Dave..." I wasn't sure what to do I was nervous and jittery out of my wits. "You okay?" I suddenly feel my tail brush against something smooth and his sudden jump scares me. "Sorr-" I clamp a webbed hand over my mouth.
"Sorry? Why would you be....." He trails off as his gorgeous blue eyes grow in size. "Are....are you?" He gropes for the words as he notices my webbed hand.

I just nearly jumped out of my skin when something brushes against my leg. What surprised me even more was Dave's reaction to my reaction. Like why would he be saying sorry?
"Sorry? Why would you be...." My eyes widen when I notice the delicate webbing between his fingers. "Are...are you?" I don't know what to think all this time I thought mermaids didn't exist. But here one was right in front of me.
His slow nod and refusal to meet my gaze confirmed my suspicions. "But you can't tell anyone...."
