"This is ridiculous. I can't believe I let you talk me into this heathen behavior," Byakuya said, clicking his flashlight on.
"It's not that bad! What, are you afraid of ghosts?" Ibuki howled and booed around the group, hopping and skipping.
"S-stop that!" Sayaka trembled, nearly latching onto Makoto.
"Aw, sorry, I totally forgot," Ibuki hugged Sayaka from behind, reassuring her girlfriend to release Makoto's arm. Even though Sayaka wasn't comfortable exploring an abandoned hospital, she struggled with telling Ibuki no.
"How many times must I repeat myself? The paranormal is an imagination of the movie industry, nothing more." Byakuya said, sighing. A loud, bellowing boom resonated from beyond the entrance. A chorus of small squeaks and gasps echoed through the small crowd.
"Are you sure you believe in your proclaimed skepticism?" Kyoko smirked, acknowledging Byakuya's sudden nonexistent distance between him and Makoto.
"Ah, sorry about that everyone. We went to the wrong entrance," Nagito and Hajime emerged from the front doors, already covered in cobwebs and dust.
"Idiots," Byakuya mumbled.
"You're just mad because they scared you," Makoto whispered, trying not to giggle.
"That's nonsense." Byakuya huffed, releasing his grip on Makoto. He stepped forward to enter the abandoned building, motioning Nagito and Hajime to move out of the way.
"Here, just let me do it," Hajime pushed on the rusted doors, giving everyone more room to enter.
"Wow, Hajime! Have you been working out?" Ibuki hopped her way over to him, poking his upper arms.
"Did you think I was weak?"
"Aw, come on! We all know guys overestimate themselves!"
"Okay, Chabishira," Hajime patted Ibuki's shoulder.
"Hey, Ibuki didn't call you a degenerate." Ibuki said, pouting.
"I swear if we are discovered and I get dragged into being charged with something as petty as trespassing." Byakuya grimaced at a cobweb that embedded itself on his shoulder.
"Oh, but you wouldn't be fazed by being charged with something like manslaughter?" Hajime chuckled.
"Please, if it's one crime I wouldn't be charged with, it's manslaughter or murder."
"I'll keep that in mind the next time I witness even a trace of Togami shenanigans at the next crime scene I'm on." Kyoko smirked.
"What shenanigans is he getting up to? What do you know that I don't?" Makoto asked, leaning forward to shine the light towards Kyoko. Nagito proceeded to trip on a loose pipe and fall on his face. "Oh, shit. Sorry!"
"Why do you think me and Chi carry backpacks with us everywhere now?" Hajime rolled his eyes, presenting a small first aid kit.
"That's just....sad. And thoughtful." Ibuki chuckled, bounding past the Hajime and Nagito.
"So, why are we wasting our Saturday night in a dusty, run-down hospital?"
"I would ask why you bothered to come if you didn't want to, but I think I know why." Sayaka giggled, poking Makoto in the side. "That and Toko isn't here, so I'm sure that's a plus for you."
"As sad as it is, I'd have to agree with you, Maizono." Byakuya carefully stepped around an odd colored puddle on the floor.
"Besides, we're hunting for the ghost of...," Ibuki stole the flashlight from Makoto, shining it up her face, "Emiko. Legend has it that when Emiko was born, she was a beautiful baby. So beautiful, in fact, that the nurses started calling her The Golden Child. A child who would bring good fortune to anyone was around her. But, she was born of adultery. Emiko's father was already married to another woman, and she was furious when she found out. Emiko's father couldn't bare to leave Emiko's side, so he decided to get a divorce. Only for his wife to stab him repeatedly in the hospital wing, right in front of Emiko and her mother. She stabbed Emiko's mother, slit Emiko's tiny throat, and then slit her own. They say you can still hear Emiko cry."
"I heard that if you hear Emiko giggle, you'll have good fortune for a whole year. But if you hear Emiko's mother crying or the wife screaming, you'll be haunted with nightmares of loved ones' deaths for a whole year." Sayaka said.
"What about the father?" Makoto asked.
Ibuki shrugged, "Some moaning and cries of him saying "Emikooooo, EmikoOooOOooOO." Ibuki wiggled her fingers in front of everyone's faces. A loud bang behind them made Ibuki jump.
A loud scraping sound echoed through the halls, followed by an audible crying scream. The group didn't think twice to turn right around and rush to find the way they had come in.
A camera flash made the group come to a screeching halt. Another small group stood in the dark, carrying equipment, laughing themselves into the ground. "You should have seen your faces! Oh my god, that was priceless!" A familiar weasel-esque voice said.
"Ouma?" Makoto shined his flashlight on the trickster.
"Shuichi?" Kyoko glared at the fellow detective.
"Sorry...I got dragged along." Shuichi glanced at Kokichi and Miu.
"Tell me you got everyone's faces in the shot!" Miu latched onto Keebo, yanking the photo from his mouth. "Oh man! You suckers look seriously spooked." She continued to laugh.
"Hey, what you kids doing?" A voice called out.
"Shit! Run!" Miu pushed everyone to move.
