Part 2

Walking back to the dorms, I told Horikita that I had something to do. This lie was an extra precaution of sorts to prevent her from becoming suspicious of me.

As I finish sending a text to someone, I take another look at my phone to discover a text from Kei.

-Is it okay if I come to your room? If you're not busy that is

Although it has been about half an hour since she sent the text, she should have been vaguely aware of my arrangement with the student council president. The text was most likely intended for an answer if I was finished with my business.

-I just finished up, want to come to my room?

-I'll come

The reply came in almost immediently.

She must have been playing on her phone or waiting for my reply, but my guess would probably be the former as I find it hard to believe that she would just wait 30 minutes for a reply... right?

In spite of the fact that I should more or less be able to guess and read Kei's thoughts, she occasionally goes above and beyond my expectations. The rooftop incident when she was called out by Ryuuen for example, I had almost certainly thought that she would have sold me out considering what she did to protect her past and especially after discovering that I incited the bullying from Manabe and her group. But as I came to find out, she displayed a feat of willpower that even surprised Ryuuen.

Her thought process becomes especially unpredictable for me in the context of our new relationship, me having no experience in love added with the fact that Kei mixes in parts of her true self and her gyaru attitude are major reasons for this.

About 20 minutes pass after I arrive at the dorms and I hear 3 knocks on the door. Kei and I had created a code of sorts to convey the urgency of our situation, three loud knocks being an emergency. As I was about to let her in, she busted through my unlocked door.

"Sorry I panicked, the elevator stopped at the fourth floor and was just about to open."

She was dressed in the same blue dress she wore when I confessed to her, and coincidently enough, I too was wearing the same clothes.

"It's fine, I understand."

"..."

"..."

"Is that all you have to say?"

I tilted my head to feign ignorance.

"..Never mind, I don't even know what I was expecting from a gloomy guy like you."

After giving up and letting exasperated sigh escape her mouth, she started to take off her shoes with her shoulders slumped.

"You look cute as always."

"..."

Her face was beat red with her eyes widening at my sudden praise.

"Ahhh mouu, why do you keep doing this to me."

Although she tried to act unhappy, she failed to conceal a huge smile on her face.

"Doing what?"

Of course I knew what she meant.

She was referring to my recent increase in teasing. Somehow before I knew it, I had created a habit of teasing her whenever I got the chance. I don't know how or why it started, but it's become almost second nature.

She was glaring at me with a pouting face which I found incredibly cute, but decided to prioritize locking the door and hiding her shoes in case of an unexpected visit.
