Drift the SeaWing threw open her chest, a ton of bubbles flying into her face. Why couldn't she find it? Her grandma Coral would be so upset! She didn't want that, so she would have to find it now! Come out you stupid earrings! She flashed.

Drift, dear? Are you in here, sweetie? Her Aunt Anemone swam into the room quietly. Auntie! The SeaWing princess abandoned her chest and hugged her Aunt.

Anyway, I just came to say hi. If you're doing anything important, I can leave.

Oh, no! If anything, I need you to stay!

Alright, what do you need help with?

So, I lost something.

I'm shocked, Anemone said sarcastically.

Where did you last see it?

I dropped my pearl earrings in the anemones this morning and I couldn't find them. The pale dragon dropped to the floor and dug her talons in.

Found them! Drift was speechless.

H- how?! What?! The SeaWing princess's aunt gave her a big hug and moved away from the door to make room for her to swim outside where her father waited.

The two SeaWings started for the mass of land some distance away.

The SeaWing princess thrashed her powerful tail, trying to keep up with Riptide in the fast-moving currents that were apparently not fast enough.

Dad! Wait for me! Drift flashed, struggling with the gold necklaces she'd insisted on wearing at the palace when she'd thought it was a good idea. She did love to stand out and look good while doing it, after all. Riptide suddenly stopped short.

The SeaWing princess slammed snout first into the mountain of pink and yellow coral in front of her.

Drift! Drift groaned and righted herself. She now had a big bruise on her snout. She could practically see the dragonets' faces when they saw a SeaWing princess with a bulbous purple lump on her nose. She was supposed to be the perfectly beautiful, perfectly skilled, perfect princess of the SeaWings.

Oww, she said, shaking her head to clear her thoughts. Riptide winced.

Let's keep going, alright? It can't be long now, he flashed. He was right, they were almost there, in fact, they were almost to the Mud Kingdom, near the river a few miles away from the Diamond Spray Delta. Soon they were going to have to fly.

Drift leaped out of the water and shot into the air, pumping her wings hard. She saw a seagull. The SeaWing reached out her talons and snatched it up, killing it swiftly with her claws.

"Nice!" she heard Riptide yell from the ground. That's what I like to hear. She smiled and dove down, dropping her seagull in front of him.

"I'm going to go look for some fish really quick," Drift said slipping into the salty water again. There! A seabass was swimming around, minding its own business. She raced over and grabbed it. The big fish wiggled and wiggled, finally slipping free. No! The SeaWing sighed bubbles and hauled herself out of the water, empty-taloned. Not so perfect, whispered the small annoying voice in the back of her head. She blocked her ears and replaced it with her usual high opinion of herself.

"Well, at least you tried. I left some for you," her father pointed at half the seagull that lay on the muddy ground. "Do you want me to get anything?" Drift nodded.

Riptide dove into the water, causing a big splash. Then the SeaWing princess noticed that he was flashing something, he was flashing Help! She obeyed immediately. This was her chance to prove herself... to herself.

Her father was being faced by two big great white sharks that had cornered him against a big clay mound, but they hadn't spotted his daughter yet. This was her chance to finally prove to herself that she could kill something big. Drift beat the closest shark with her tail and slashed it with her claws and said, GO!

Riptide swam under the shark that was still in front of him and clawed its belly. If sharks could roar, it probably would've done that just now. The shark tried to bite his tail, but he was too quick, instead, he bit its tail and grabbed its side fins, immobilizing it.

Drift was finally finished with her shark and put it on the shore and then barrelled into her father's from the front. It was hazardous, but she ducked at the last second and whacked it with her tail one last time. Dead.

"Well, at least we have food!" The bigger SeaWing looked down at his daughter who was chewing the shark meat as if it tasted like fish oil and burnt sea slugs. Drift wished she could've had salmon on a half-empty stomach. Shark tasted horrible, but she had to eat it. This reminded her of her great-uncle Shark, who was mean and smelled weird. That was partly why she didn't like to eat it.

"Shark isn't gooood," Drift whined. Riptide ignored her.

"Look! There it is! Jade Mountain! And there's Tsunami! Come on, Drift!" the SeaWings canted their wings and landed on the grass. In front of them, were nine dragonets, including the royal blue dragon herself.

Tsunami turned and smiled a big smile, enveloping her daughter in a back-breaking hug.

"It's so good to see you! Drift, this is the Sapphire Winglet," she spread one of her wings. "This is Manda...rin, Palo, Copper, Kumquat, Sheer, Empathy, Junix, Cecropia, and Flytrap! Sapphire Winglet, meet Drift." A few of them waved and some frowned.

"We were just about to go hunting, want to come with?"

"Sure!"
