Flytrap bared his teeth and spread his leaf-shaped wings, earning a terrified expression from the SeaWing dragonet who had told them that the DreamWings were here.
"Calm down," scolded Cricket, placing a talon in front of his face to tell him it was okay, but it wasn't. Flytrap folded in his wings, but kept his teeth bared. "DREAMWINGS!" someone suddenly yelled a few tunnels away. How many? Are they here to negotiate? Try to commit mass homicide? Are we allowed to help? Have they already captured and killed some dragonets?
"You guys are dismissed, please promise to not cause any trouble; trouble as in killing DreamWings, no matter how much you may want to do it. Just hide in your caves and let the adults handle it!" "But I'm an adult!" Junix argued, and she was right, she was eight, which was a year over the "adult" age for dragons. The teacher sighed and shut the big wooden door behind them.
Drift bolted down the hall in the direction of the sleeping caves, the other dragons following.
Flytrap turned into his cave which had a pile of soft leaves sewn together with a green blanket for him to sleep on and was lit by some glowing globes. Kumquat was in there too, soon after, his huge wings dragging on the floor as always.
"What're we going to do now?" Kumquat asked. "I don't know! But you heard Cricket, we don't get to kill anyone! But I bet you anything that Junix is going to kill somebody out of boredom."
"I never thought of her as the rebellious type, weirdly enough," the RainWing shrugged.
Flytrap stood up and walked up to the small wooden bookshelf, picking out his favorite book that they coincidentally had. It was called The Tales of the Trees with a giant cover-to-cover illustration of a giant sequoia. It was beautiful. He opened it up and reread the first page again. He realized it was ripped. He picked a one sided sticky paper out of one of his pouch and taped it. Fixed.
Later, he was in the fourth chapter about how photosynthesis worked. "Hey, Flytrap, look!" Kumquat pointed at the window curtained with long willow leaves. He looked outside, all the DreamWings just bright-colored shapes in the distance. Did they severely injure them? Kill them? How? How many dragons were there in the first place? What's their motive? Do they have a Queen?
Flytrap growled to himself again. "I'm going to the library," he said, walking away. He was going to do some research on DreamWings. He would take whatever he could find.
He entered the Library which only had two other dragonets in it, not including Starflight who was sitting at his desk, ears pricked for any visitors because he couldn't see them. "Hello?" he said warily. "It's Flytrap," Flytrap muttered, going straight to The Tribes of Pyrrhia section.
This corner of the library had very few shelves and even fewer scrolls and books. Many were about the same things, and many were completely off-topic.
The LeafWing opened his wings and flapped up to hover at the top of the cave. He noticed a large leaf hammock fastened to where the wall met the wall in a corner. He would sit there when he found something. Flytrap landed on top of a shelf and froze in place when it wobbled under his weight. Then, when it stopped, a scroll tumbled out of its place onto the floor. The green dragon quickly hopped off the shelf and picked it up. It was titled The Unknown Dragons. This felt promising.
The LeafWing flapped back up onto the shelf again and glided over to the leaf hammock thing again. Flytrap unrolled the scroll and started reading. The first tribe was called the PollenWings. They had fur on them and they had gone extinct a thousand years ago. Definitely not the DreamWings. The next was the StreamWings, wingless and sturdy; not the DreamWings. Next was the BeakWings, feathered, two-legged, beaked dragons who had long tails and strong claws, probably ancestors of the DreamWings. There it was: Ancestors of the DreamWings, see: DreamWings.
