Sheer the IceWing's claws made a click-clack sound on the hard stone floor as she walked through the school with a rabbit dangling from her jaws.

Argh, why did mother send me here? Everyone is just a pile of fleabags! I miss the Ice Palace.

A SilkWing walked by, just minding his own business until Sheer snarled at him and scared him away.

"Sheer?" the IceWing jumped at the sound of her clawmate, Empathy's voice. "Don't do that!" she barked. "What? Scare you?" "You didn't scare me!"

Sheer lashed her tail and set down her prey on her ledge. She groaned and covered her face with her talons.

"What're you moping about?" Empathy asked thoughtfully.

"Nothing," the IceWing sliced her rabbit with her claws and started eating it.

The NightWing's eyes suddenly flickered. "DreamWings- fake! It's fake!! Wings of right, stop!"

"Uhm, what?"

"Nothing!" Empathy just ignored her and started muttering to herself again.

Was that a prophecy? No, of course not! NightWings don't have powers! Sheer thought, finishing up her rabbit quickly. She returned to her usual snide manner after a few minutes and decided to go to the Library.

The Library started off as a side corridor lined with hanging scrolls, many of them had quotes on them such as "Knowledge is a flame in the darkness" and "The claws of war are no match to the wings of wisdom". At the end of the hall, a room full of iridescent green sunlight was present, the result of the sun shining through large semi-transparent leaves placed over windows. Scrolls and were arranged all over the cave, in cubbyholes on the walls, racks, and cylinders around the cave. Every corner had a spot to curl up and read in, sometimes a rock ledge, sometimes a pile of moss, sometimes a bed of reeds, and sometimes carpets.

Sunlight came down from skylights in the roof and filtered through leaves covering the windows. There was a circular wooden desk labeled 'LIBRARIAN' in the center where Starflight managed them. Starflight also had stamps of every student's name that he stamped on a card.

"Hi, Sheer! Need anything?" Fatespeaker asked, looking up.

"I need a scroll about NightWings, can you get me one?"

"First can we give you your library card please?" Starflight butted in, tightening his blindfold. Sheer nodded and then remembered he was blind.

"I- well, alright," the IceWing growled, walking up to the desk and took the card that was stamped with her name in big red letters.

Sheer took the library card and put it in the wolfskin pouch she wore on her ankle. Then she walked around and looked for scrolls about the tribes. There! It was titled Everything You Need to Know About NightWings. The IceWing picked it up and started reading:

Description: Dark purple and black scales with silver scales scattered on the underside of their wings that resemble the night sky; forked black tongues

Diet: Meat and since moving to the rainforest with the RainWings they began to mix fruits and vegetables in their diet as well

Abilities: Were once known to read minds and see the future, but no longer; disappear into dark shadows; breathe fire.

Extras: NightWings are a secretive tribe and they lied about having powers for years and years until the Dragonets of Destiny foiled their plan to steal the rainforest and instead made them confess in they have powers or not, and it turns out they didn't for thousands of years. The last known powered dragon they had was the animus NightWing, Darkstalker who lived two thousand years ago and recently erupted from under Agate Mountain and took over the NightWing tribe, but someone stopped him and their exact identity is unknown.

Since Darkstalker's first defeat, they stopped getting powers and therefore couldn't read minds or see the future and they are not very mystical anymore. Some think that NightWings got their powers from the moons, which makes sense, seeing as they can only hatch at night. Nobody has confirmed this, as the answer was lost in time. Since they live in the rainforest now, they don't have a choice but to lay their eggs in the moonlight because they do not live in the volcano now, like they did before when they lied that they did have powers. But this is just a theory of course.

Sheer rolled up the scroll and put it back in the cubbyhole it was in before. She did admit, that was quite helpful. The IceWing sulked out of the cave and into a tunnel that led to the exit of the academy. She flew on top of a tall rock and looked around for her friend, Fir the LeafWing in Opal Winglet.

Why couldn't she find him? He didn't exactly blend in with his lime-yellow scale color.

"Fir! Fir, where are you?!" Sheer opened her wings and hovered in the air for a moment. Then suddenly something hit her hard and drove her to the ground. It raised its talon, claws glinting in the sunlight, getting ready for the blow. The dragon let out a weird yellow cloud of its mouth. What the-? The IceWing roared a blizzard of frostbreath in its face. It roared and clawed where the freezing mist breath hit it. The weird yellow gas and the frostbreath collided.

It exploded.

Her attacker let out a screech.

"You will PAY FOR THIS, you pile of POLAR BEAR BARF!!" Sheer roared, leaping onto its back and digging her claws in. The dragon collapsed on the ground, hitting his head on a rock before he went limp.

Everyone in the area stared at her, shocked. "COME ON and HELP ME you idiots!" she yelled at them. A few flew over and looked at her and then at the dragon. "Help me get it somewhere," Sheer growled.

They lifted him up and then flew him inside the Prey Center where Clay was standing. "CHICKENS, GIVE UP! WE'RE GOING TO EAT YOU! THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT! STOP RUNNING AWAY RIGHT NOW!" Clay was yelling.

The IceWing that was helping Sheer with the dragon, Prince Silver, if she remembered correctly, tapped Clay on the shoulder. Clay's wide brown eyes got even wider.

"Wh- who? W-why? And what did you do to him?" Clay looked worried, running his claw along the dragon's limp body.

"He tried to kill me, Clay, I don't hurt others without reason, that would be barbaric," the IceWing said loudly. Sheer sighed inwardly. Clay was so dense-minded sometimes.

"He did!" yelped the SkyWing that helped her, Funnel Cloud. Silver nodded vigorously in agreement.

Clay sighed and pressed a talon to his face. "DreamWings, again?"

Sheer was back in her sleeping cave pestering Empathy and demanding to know what a DreamWing was. "Sheer, stop yelling, please! I don't like conflict and you know that!" "You were muttering about them earlier! Copper caught one yesterday! What is it already?!"

"FINE! DreamWings are a dragon tribe that was discovered ten years ago, they breathe a yellow toxic gas that is very flammable and dangerous, and they randomly appear in your waking thoughts and dreams and give you horrible nightmares. There, I've told you all I know."

"THANK YOU," gasped the pink dragon, turning around and sitting down.

DreamWings, DreamWings, DreamWings.
