Closed The Door To Love

I was visiting my mom and we decided to go out for breakfast at Breakfast Champs in Sarasota, Fl.

We were sitting at our table looking over the menu while talking. She had been on me about not giving up on love and she was sure that love would find its way back in my heart again.

It was hard to hear because I had so much un forgiveness inside.

"Ma, I'm never getting married. Accept it because I have. I'm 24 and I'm not even dating." I sighed talking to my mom. We had been on this subject for days now.

"Deja honey, don't say that. Your husband is out there. You just need to relax, enjoy life and allow things to flow. The biggest thing is, you have to forgive. I pray that a wonderful man finds you. You're a queen baby." My mom said.

I rolled my eyes because every relationship that I took serious, failed. At this point in my life I'm over love. I'd rather take a trip to the sperm bank and raise my child with my immediate family. I blame my birth father.

"Mom-"

"No, you listen. You're my favorite baby girl and I want the best for you because I know that you deserve it. You may be hurting now but you'll love again one day. Trust me."

I giggled. "Mom, I'm your ONLY baby girl, your only child."

I sighed.

"Mom, you know everything I've gone through. Even with the man you made me with. I just feel like if I can't get things right with him, how can I get the proper healing? How can any relationship or marriage work? No man will want a "broken" woman."

My mom took a deep breath before responding. She placed her hand on top of mine.

"Babygirl, free your heart and allow God to lead you. You can't live in true peace holding all of that anger inside."

"You're right mom. I know I have to do the work. Thank you for always being my rock. I love you."

My mom gave me a warm smile.

"I love you too."

The waitress took our order, we ate and left.

The next morning

(Phone vibrates)

After hearing my phone buzz for the third time, I rolled over and snatched my phone off my nightstand. I was annoyed because my alarm was set for 6 a.m. and it had not gone off yet. With squinted eyes I saw that the time was 5am. I kissed my teeth because I can't stand when my sleep is broken. Especially before my alarm goes off.

As I looked at my notifications, I noticed a few texts from a number that wasn't saved in my phone.

"Who the heck is this?" I said out loud as I rubbed my eyes.

I opened the message.

Unknown: Good morning fun size
Unknown: I miss you
Unknown: Hit me up

I replied "Umm who is this?"

I didn't get an immediate response so I put my phone back on my nightstand and went back to sleep. I had about an hour before my alarm went off.

An hour later...

My alarm went off and it was time to get up and moving.

I sat up, stretched and sat on the side of my bed for about 2 minutes to get my blood flowing. I stood up and noticed that my screen light came on. I glanced over and saw that I had a response from the unknown number.

"I'll get to that in a minute." I mumbled to myself.

I stood up and started making my bed. I then went to the bathroom to take care of my hygiene.
