Chapter 6

'Why's no one here yet?' Giselle asked.

Cirie frowned. She knew how the others had escaped, they'd been rescued, and that's not something they could count on.

'Should we wait here?' Ellis asked.

Cirie shook her head. 'We're sitting ducks.' She explained.

Giselle nodded. 'I agree we should go, but maybe stick to the edges? So we can find our way back?'

Cirie smiled and nodded. 'Good plan.'

'Guys-' Jocelyn called out.

Ellis, Giselle and Cirie turned their heads to Jocelyn.

'Look.' She pointed out. 'I see someone!'

They looked over at a woman's figure in the distance and Cirie had backed off. 'Giselle.' She said.

'They could help us!' Giselle smiled.

Cirie gulped before she rushed off.

'Cirie?' Giselle asked.

As the person got closer they could see her holding two knives.

'What?' Jocelyn asked, stepping back.

The figure loomed closer and she suddenly flung a knife in their direction. All three of them recoiled at this and Giselle narrowly managed to avoid this.

'Oh my God!' Jocelyn had frozen still.

The woman threw another one at Ellis which landed in the back of his head, and he fell.

'Ellis!'

Giselle ran over to a frozen Jocelyn, grabbing her hand. Jocelyn allowed herself ot be pulled as they ran away from the woman trying not to scream.

Newt heeled over. He couldn't believe Emily had just been murdered in front of them!

Ryu and Newt snuck around the alley they'd been in earlier.

'Wh-What do we do?' Newt asked. 'Can we call someone?'

'There's no service.' Ryu replied, getting up. 'Newt, I don't know what's going to happen, but I can promise you something.'

His boyfriend looked up at him.

'I will protect you.'

Newt actually smiled slightly. 'Th-Thank you Ryu.'

Ryu smiled back at him. 'I don't know who that was, but we can survive. We just need to find the others...'

Anuja, Michelle, Daniel and Silas waded through the town. They'd not managed to find anyone else yet.

Michelle trailed behind them, still tying to process what she'd seen.

Bodies. Dead bodies in the lake. Surrounded them. She shuddered at the thought. 

Daniel turned back and watched her shudder. He knew she was thinking about what they'd all seen. It was horrifying, corpse on corpse on corpse.  Bones and flesh blended into a disgusting mess scarred his brain.

Anuja ran a hand through her short hair, she was still in slight shock at what she'd seen in the water. It felt like the corpse was grabbing her! Anuja's breathing was completely out of control, and she was feeling restless.

As they carried on, Silas laid eyes on something and he recoiled in fear, suddenly stopping.

'What, why are we-' Michelle stopped as well, gasping slightly.

'Emily.' She said in shock, raising a hand to her mouth.

'Oh my God...' Anuja said in disbelief. 'What the fuck?'

'Let's go.' Daniel said, gasping slightly. He headed off in a different direction and the other three followed after him.

She'd managed to get to the outskirts. Gwen was there. She was where the entrance was supposed to be, however the fence had seemingly grown over it. She knew what this meant, Scarlett had warned her.

Gwen picked up her phone and dialled the number, Scarlett immediately picked up.

'You were right.' Gwen told her. 'It's closed off.'

'There is another way in.' Scarlett explained. 'Keep going left until I say stop.'

Gwen did so, until she saw what Scarlett meant. 'Oh.' She gulped. 'I see what you meant.'

'Didn't think this would be easy did you?'
