Word Count: 2280I locked the car after we got out and sighed as I made my way to the door.
"What's wrong?" He asked, going over to the mail slots in the lobby.
"I don't want to walk up all of those stairs," I said, holding Alpine as he checked our mailbox. He pulled out a few envelopes and handed them to me before locking the door again.
"Do you have a hold of Alpine?"
"Yeah, why?" I asked, confused with his question. He picked me up quickly with his right arm behind my back and his left under the back of my knees. "Holy shit your arm is freezing," I said, tensing up. "What are you doing?"
"You didn't want to walk up the stairs."
"You're the sweetest. I'd kiss you, but there's a cat in the way," I said, holding onto the back of his neck with my left arm and holding onto Alpine with my right.
We made it up a flight of stairs. "There are two more of these?" He asked, sighing at the top of the first.
"I can walk," I said, laughing.
"What kind of a friend would I be if I made you walk?" He asked, still carrying me. I gave him a weird look because he called me his friend. I watched as a person passed us going down the stairs.
"That was awkward," I whispered, laughing. "I wonder what they thought when they saw you carrying a girl and a cat at the same time."
"I don't know, but I'm also extremely sweaty," he said, laughing with me.
I saw Alpine move and I tried to grab him, but he climbed onto Bucky's shoulders. He sat there calmly.
"We have a cool little cat," I said, laughing.
"And a cute genius inventor," he said, starting the third set of stairs.
"And a hot old man," I said, laughing.
"You're crazy," he said, bending to kiss me on the forehead.
"Your face hurts," I said, being set down in front of our door.
"Want me to shave?" He asked, following me inside the apartment with Alpine still on his shoulder.
"Up to you," I said, closing and locking the door. "I like you either way." I helped him get Alpine off of his shoulder.
"Really?" He asked, sitting on the couch.
"Of course," I said, sitting next to him after setting the cat down.
He grabbed my face and gave me a gentle kiss. I put my hands on both sides of his neck and deepened the kiss. He leaned into me and made me lay back onto the couch. I felt his right hand trail down my body and go underneath my shirt. He started to slowly move his hand up my stomach. I grabbed onto his shoulders and pushed him back gently.
"What's wrong?" He asked, out of breath.
"Go get a shower," I said sitting up. I'm not sure why I stopped the kiss exactly. "You smell." I gave him a kiss on the cheek before he got up reluctantly. He grabbed the back of my neck and pulled my face up to his.
"This isn't over," he said in my ear roughly, letting go of my neck. I immediately fell back into the couch clumsily. I watched as he walked away.
My attention was quickly redirected to Alpine on the counter eating the flowers Bucky got me.
"Alpine, no," I said, getting up quickly. I grabbed the flowers away from him and put the vase on a higher shelf in a different part of the room.
After Bucky was done in the shower, I got one, shaving my legs while I was in there. When I got out, there was dinner on the table.
