Never have I expected to meet a legend, much less than meeting a savior of the mythical world.
Kaldur's stories about Persephone always fascinated me. The people of the depths looks up to her as more than just a role model. She was their pride.
Yet here she is, locked away from the world in a frozen, cold chamber.
"Please, wake up," I begged. If the scientists' guess was correct, then Persephone was the one controlling the ice and stopping them from getting to her. She was protecting herself. "We are here to save you... I'm here to save you..." This feeling is strange and new to me, yet somehow I know it is love. I love this girl "Persephone..."
As if responding to her name, the ice shattered. The echo of the breaking was louder than I expected, someone is going to find us soon. But right now, I'm more concerned with the matter at hand.
She is free.
I caught her before she hits the ground, cradling her gently in my arms.
"Hey, are you alright?" Persephone didn't respond. "Wake up..."
I gently tapped her shoulder, trying to get a response. Her fan-like eyelashes fluttered and slowly began to open.
I suck in a quiet breath, her eyes were gorgeous. The sea- green color reflected the ocean itself as if all the colors of the seas were drained and put into a single pair of eyes. They were beautiful yet sad to look at. I can see the broken look in her eyes, the broken look of a war-hardened hero.
"Where am I?"
Her voice was slightly hoarse, yet nonetheless melodies. She looked around with a questioned look before her eyes settled back at me and my teammates.
"Who are you?"
Kaldur knelt before her, his head slightly bout.
"Lady Persephone, an honor to finally meet you. I represent the people of Atlantis to officially welcome you back. We have missed you."
Persephone looked slightly confused at Kaldur before realization dawned on her face.
"You are my father's people."
She turned her sea-green eyes on the rest of the team.
"Then I would assume that the rest of you know of my origin?"
"We do."
I answered for my teammates. My eyes never leaving her features.
She nodded and tries to stand. But being trapped inside the ice for three years had it's affected on her. She stumbled, I caught her again and let her leaned on my chest.
"Easy there, I got you."
She smiled at me, an easygoing smile that would have charmed every single young man in Gotham.
"Thank you. Thank you all for freeing me."
"If I may ask, Miss Perse-"
A distant shout and the sound of running boots interrupted Megan's question.
Someone is here and they have backups.
"A battle is coming," Persephone said calmly.
"Don't worry My Lady, we would protect you and get you out safely."
The demigoddess smirked.
"My dear Atlantean, I'm a warrior myself, and fighting has always been what I'm destined to do..."
