So my English teacher wanted us to rewrite the last paragraph of "Eveline" by James Joyce (link at the bottom). It kinda seemed like an extremely short story and it has been forever since I have published a chapter for any of my stories, so here you go! Let me know what you think in the comments section, and give me a star if you like what you read!

I was shoving my way through the crowds, eager to make my way to the stalls down by the quay. It was the weekend, late in the nighttime with the sun having set hours ago. I knew I could arrive just in time for the evening catch, the fresh smell of brine and petroleum hanging in the air and causing my nose to wrinkle.

Barely had I slipped down to my usual fishmonger when a frantic cry caught my attention. Swiveling my head about to search for the curious sound had me staring after a handsome young lad trying to force his way back down a gangplank. I could only just make out what he was waving at in the dim lighting.

There was a girl, nicely dressed for travel it seemed. Her back was to me, but I could see the white knuckles gripping the railing rather ferociously, loose strands of hair blowing in the stiff breeze. She made no move to respond. There was no jerk of her body to show any indication of following him. When I looked again some time later, she was still there, back ramrod straight with iron in her hands and steel in her heart.

Welp, that's it, so let me know what you think my grade will be, lol. Link and PDF of the original story "Eveline" below.
